This is a great career development program for junior faculty- I highly recommend after participating myself in the first RAPID cohort! Particularly helpful for preparing your first R01 submission and connecting with both new and senior investigators in the field.

Check out this #JLB highlighted article by Horn's team where they identify neutrophils as a critical cellular target of IL-10–directed immune suppression, as neutrophil-mediated clearance of Strep pneumoniae is improved in the absence of IL-10 receptor. https://t.co/WjgHFASqPk

The RAPID program through UCSD was an excellent experience- grant boot camps (with mock study sections), career guidance, and new mentors. I highly recommend to other early career PIs in infectious disease research! Apps due Feb 28. #UCSD_RAPID

It's been great meeting with postdocs about the faculty position application process! Put together some collected thoughts on the process here. Main thing I've noticed: work on describing your research and *why it's important*. Concrete examples within. https://t.co/xMLD5wQLRG

The gut microbiome is an "organ" that participates in metabolism, immunity, and infection prevention. Anti-anaerobic antibiotics thus cause a kind of "organ failure." I worry this is hurting our patients. New from our lab in @ERSpublications 1/9 https://t.co/ehxFdAu6jV

Inspiring talk this morning by @KLemonLab at the #GRCStrepBio2022. It was so great to be part of this session, and thanks to @KimInGeneva for leading the discussion- there is so much left to uncover in the realm of microbial community interactions!
