First author paper for Rinnie Hewlett (@rinniehewlett) in the Zackular lab (@joeyzacks) on: Dietary fiber modulates the window of susceptibility to Clostridioides difficile infection
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
Consumption of a low-fiber diet after antibiotic use contributes to a prolonged susceptibility to CDI that corresponds to a perturbation in both microbiota and bile acid composition. These results...

I’m excited to see our paper posted @medrxivpreprint showing that older folks have higher levels of antibodies that recognize H5N1 viruses compared to younger individuals. Finally some good news for old people. 1/12

Avian H5N1 influenza viruses are circulating widely in cattle and other mammals and pose a risk for a human pandemic. Previous studies suggest that older humans are more resistant to H5N1 infections...

Excited to share the preprint of some of my dissertation work! We explored the impact of maternal bladder inflammation on preterm birth in a novel mouse model, supported by a human cohort identifying urinary biomarkers of preterm birth.
Why is preterm birth risk doubled with maternal UTI? It depends on the immune response. We found distinct immune signatures in a UTI-associated preterm birth mouse model. In a human cohort from @AShea_Lab, urine cytokine levels could predict preterm birth.
