As my cousin took this picture of me in King’s College, Cambridge — a white male student shouted, “if they catch you, you’ll get chucked out.” I sharply told him: I belong here, my portrait hangs in the College Chapel — not his.

NIMBYs are essentially economic terrorists and we should not negotiate with them. If it's decided that the country needs something built then it should get built, even if it does spoil the view of some wealthy boomers with too much time on their hands.

People like this don't like when it's just men ('where are the women and children?'). Don't like immigrants bringing their families. Don't like it when immigrants send money home to their families. I'm starting to think that they just don't like immigrants.

Spotted this on the Tube. Even if I were pro-open-borders, I’d be a bit uneasy about that strapline. It basically presents the UK as little more than a cash cow to be milked by the international labour force. No notion of home, community or belonging.

Pleased to hear #SizewellC is under review. It would be a burden and risk, not a solution: it would take 10-17 years to start producing energy But the govt must instead invest in solutions that can address energy & climate crisis, such as renewables & nationwide home insulation

@implausibleblog My state pension is not a ‘benefit’. It’s something I paid for from 1969 to 2017 - 48 years. It is unaffected by anything else I earn so why should it give the Govt the right to access my bank account?

This is Oxford today. People from across the UK have come together to protest the 15-minute dystopia they have planned for us. Oxford is one of the first cities to announce a new scheme where car owners will be fined for driving outside of their local area.

Nobody has more respect for people aged 60-75 than me (they're our Greatest Generation) but we shouldn't expect then to be on public transport so early. They should be campaigning against homes being built or simply sleeping soundly knowing that their pension is triple locked.

It really wouldn't. Housing supply would still be far too low. Young people would still be spending a fortune on renting and even more on taxes as we'd have fewer people of working age to fund public services.
