Our three @Communityplann1 reports in one thread... "Homes for Everyone" - sent by 12,000 people to their MP - sets out how we can have a greenfield last approach to solving the housing crisis: https://t.co/TQXq1fgGuc 1/

In all the coverage today about Ofgem's funding package, please note that we (@PylonsEAnglia) sent a detailed pack of concerns about National Grid's business plan to them but all were ignored. @BBCSimonJack

@RosieP4 @PylonsEAnglia @BBCSimonJack Our sector moves forward when all voices are heard. Ignoring detailed feedback holds back real progress on a green grid. Stakeholder engagement is vital for sustainable energy planning.

A stark warning from Germany. A new 2023 Curlew survey from Lower Saxony & Bremen shows a 46% population decline since 1980 - from 2,500 territories to just 1,300β1,400 today. https://t.co/R47umsXEZ4

More false narrative on nature from @Keir_Starmer
The UK Government unveiled its new Environmental Improvement Plan (EIP). 𧡠While the plan shows signs of progress for nature, the PM continues to push the false narrative that nature rules βhold back growth.β (1/3)

"We are losing biodiversity at a rate unparalleled in human history." Global wildlife populations have sunk over 60% since 1970. We are destroying ourselves and taking nature with us. Time to protect people and the planet. #ActOnClimate #climate #biodiversity #nature

The UK claims to lead on animal welfare, yet millions of animals remain trapped in cruel conditions. Today, I & 36 MPs and Peers urged @DefraGovUK to include a clear time-bound plan to end all confinement cages and crates in the upcoming Animal Welfare Strategy.

"However well-meaning Defraβs efforts to recover nature are, they will remain mere efforts as long as those at the top of Government are working to precisely opposite ends."
Underwhelmed: @WildlifeTrustsβ response to the Environmental Improvement Plan - covering farming, planning etc. There is some commitment there for good stuff but budget and anti nature rhetoric elsewhere fails

Turns out it's AI data centres, not nature, that is the blocker... π€·ββοΈ I guess developers should have the power to pay to destroy data centres then? https://t.co/6lKtR320JB

Woodlands in crisis: Nearly 6,000 trees were examined by @wildlifebcn across 21 sites. Overall, almost a third (29 per cent) of trees were affected by disease. For ash, the figure was far higher, at 82 per cent. More by me here: https://t.co/qccwV3URTO

Rattled Keir Starmer is suspending his MPs again. This time for standing up for farmers...says everything about his priorities. Last year he suspended 7 MPs for opposing the two-child benefit cap, and we all know how that ended. How long until a u-turn on the family farm tax?
EXCLUSIVE: I understand that Penrith & Solway MP Markus Campbell-Savours has been suspended as a Labour MP after he voted against the governmentβs plans to impose inheritance tax on farms last night

Good man for voting according to principles. It really is pathetic that Labour removes the whip like this.
I interviewed Markus Campbell-Savours this afternoon, before being told he's had the Labour whip suspended He said he voted against the government over their plans to impose inheritance tax on farmers after Labour colleagues "reneged" on promises

A rare watch in modern politics; a principled stand. And how much easier to watch than the usual evasion. Government scores another own goal by suspending the whip & creating a news cycle on an issue it keeps trying to bury but that keeps burning through political capital.

@ThatcheriteBish @shivmalik @RosieP4 If developers around us were building the affordable social housing that is really needed it would be fine. But itβs all Β£600k to Β£1m exec homes, car dependent and to add insult to injury theyβre stealing the farmland needed to feed the very people that need it most.
