Conservatives are placing in third place for these council elections to the Lib Dems. Ignore the spin, these are very bad results indeed and confirm that the Conservatives are currently heading to a severe defeat.
Andy Street’s defeat (and he was a good mayor, so my sincere commiserations) will be a huge blow to Tory MPs. None of them has a personal vote even a fraction as big as Andy’s, they’ll see this result and conclude the obvious. Also... I wonder if Andy might have won under SV?
