This is so long that no one in their right minds will want to read it - butterfly on a wheel springs to mind - but here it is anyway. My review of #ThriftyKitchen (apologies in advance for typos, I had to lay off my team of subs during lockdown)

@JLewisland Chris de Burgh, La Trompette. My guest was wearing a red dress. He came over to our table and sang a chorus of 'Lady in Red' to her. I swear that is true. He completely ignored me, which got my back up. Also, I fucking hate that song.

@AWPRCO Please feel free to unfollow, although once my review is published tomorrow I am done with Monroe. The Guardian piece today has brought the debacle to a satisfying conclusion from my point of view.

@AwfullyMolly I don't understand how you fixed this so quickly. Doesn't it take a crack team of crowdfunded tech experts at least two years to mend a website?.

@rhbBSE No, I'm done. I don't fancy any of the recipes from the book and I can't afford to make something just to chuck it away. I've proved the recipes are flawed and I have enough recipe writing and editing experience to know if one will work or not just by reading it.

I'm looking for the best afternoon teas in the UK for a feature in the national press. Out of the ordinary, creative, award winning and non-hotel would be a bonus but really great classic offerings also weclome, as would RTs. Thanks in advance #journorequests.

@StickyWalnut Just so you don't get caught out again, the basic mixers that are most commonly used for drinking are: Um Bongo (usually with Amarone), Dandelion and Burdock (any Alsace-style wine), Dr Pepper (Burgundy Premier crus) and Asda chocolate milk (vodka at four in the morning).

@RussInCheshire Don't worry, she'll be back. In the meantime, there's lots of information online that might help you see another side to JM. I'd start with Awfully Molly's pinned tweet.

Two dishes-one lamb, one beef - with sauces that looked & tasted identical & might be mistaken for something unadulterated from out of a catering pack. Not a problem except both were priced north of £30 and served at a @MichelinGuideUK Bib Gourmand-winning gastropub. Not happy.

@lizzienugent I'm with the restaurant on this one regarding the jacket. Coats on the back of chairs does make a dining room look messy. If they're going to hang it up for you, what's the problem?.

@pippygro It's a 'bumper' book so it will at least come in handy for hitting the knife when you're opening a tin if you don't have a mallet. Going to buy a copy as I want to review it for my blog. Maybe I should crowdfund the purchase and claim I'll give it away charity after?.

@nicmillerstale It also has no practical value for the recipe user at all. What difference does it make if its 51p or 50p per portion? Either way it's cheap. It's disingenuous - a tired trope to lend a faux authenticity to a certain style of recipe writing.

@robdelaney I'm not sure about this guy Bartolo. It's been a few years since I had the op, but I'm pretty sure that no one looked at or touched my balls until the day of the op. Are you sure he was actually employed by the NHS?.

@fattmellows 'Johnny Morris dressed as a zoo keeper, he's got no veterinary training. He's holding a sick baby cheetah. He spits Gaviscon into the sick baby cheetah's open mouth. The camera zooms in. Is it a commentary on the Ukraine war? No, not all animals are trying to satirise things.'.

Fascinating and important. People need to think about the Jehovah's Witnesses in exactly the same way as they do about Scientology. It's not a religion, it's a dangerous money-making cult.
This was supposed to happen in the morning; first extract of The Last Days and an interview in which I talk about growing up inside the Jehovah’s Witnesses, is now online. In print in tomorrow’s Sunday Times magazine.
