Something I love about Le Creuset is the way it allows the rich to subsidize the modest. Let's be honest. The ONLY thing you need from them is an enameled Dutch oven. But a company cannot live off one, high quality product which, once purchased, lasts decades.
took me ages to realize — Le Creuset sells kitchenware, yes, but what they're *really* selling is colour

@JoePostingg Not just forums, but people's passion websites. Some dude who loves dishwashers would have Mike's Dishwasher World, where he'd have in depth reviews and repair articles, and a web ring to his favorite other home appliance websites. Gone are the individual hobbiest sites.

@theSPSFC I have read the Code of Conduct. Devon has had 0 interactions with fellow authors or any of the judges of the SPSFC, and it explicitly states that personal blogs unrelated to the competition are irrelevant and not grounds for disqualification. What is his violation?.

After Theft of Fire: Orbital Space #1's warm reception (the only Strong Yes in its initial judging batch), I'm sorry to see Devon, who broke none of the rules spelled out in the CoC, removed from the SPSFC. This is straining my personal policy to never engage in "author drama".

So how much would you guys hate me if I allowed myself one little mean vindictive chuckle? As a treat 😇
I was walking down the sidewalk the other day, relishing how warm weather comes early in Tennessee, when a weird little goblin with big eyes and floppy green ears jumped out of the bushes in front of me. "You're banned from the competition!" he proclaimed, with a self-satisfied

🥺 G. S. Jennsen, author of The Thief, a quarter-finalist alongside Theft of Fire: Orbital Space #1, would have been a sho-in as a semi-finalist with Devon's removal. She has, instead, chosen to withdraw from the SPSFC. I greatly appreciate this gesture & encourage reader support
In light of recent events, I am withdrawing THE THIEF, which is currently a Quarterfinalist in @theSPSFC , from further consideration in the competition. More below. #SPSFC

@NASASun This is why Elon is eating your lunch, and their entire program to lift the equivalent of a 40-story building into space cost LESS than 15% of your annual budget.
I have a very simple message for everyone who complained that I included the real-world company, SpaceX, in Theft of Fire. For everyone who complained that this was too topical, too on-the-nose, too current-year. Shut your statist pie hole. You didn't complain when I mentioned.

@ylecun @Josh_XT Meta literally made it impossible to search for the words "Kyle Rittenhouse" until he was found not guilty. There were very simple, material facts to the case that Meta could have shared to prevent misinformation. Instead you let both misinformation and censorship run rampant lol.

Cancelations are ✨C A N C E L E D✨. A big thank you to everyone who's shown support for @Devon_Eriksen_'s unfair treatment in this. I was excited to submit Theft of Fire to a fun little competition, but when they created a CoC explicity to appease a mob and kick him out? 😭

@Devon_Eriksen_ Most of you don't know Sara Eriksen. We try to keep her name off Twitter for privacy reasons, because we don't want some derange loony hunting her down for something Devon has written. Maybe you've seen allusion to the Elusive Eriksen Wife, maybe you've even found.

@ShayWoulahan I know this is a joke, but, seriously, it's because the traditional publishing industry is intentionally not writing books that they would find interesting, just as we enter an age where there's equally satisfying alternatives (video games) for them to turn to instead.

@prairiefawkes @AbigailShrier Yep. There was a recent scandal over how much ebooks cost libraries per-unit. Trad pub is charging up to $80 per 2-year ebook license . So these 444 copies of White Fragility could cost tax payers up to $35,000. Insane.

Nobody is going to see this but it's important. Capital gains tax on estates is a middle class killer. This is going to start for the "ultra wealthy" and roll down. Your grandma dies with $1000 of stock. how much did she originally pay? You have no idea. This "capital gains".

@Slatzism Sane people don't have any desire to invite scrutiny into their lives via lifestyle videos. Plus I don't think there's much demand for "watch my 3-person family pick out a sectional" or "how having a co-wife who likes different La Croix fixes Costco variety packs" content lol.

YES. YES. YES. Books like The Stranger, The Great Gatsby, Infinite Jest, Lord of the Flies, they are literal info hazards. Why are you allowing some sadsop with a tragically broken mind to spend hours inside your head. The world is actually better than that.

@MikeNellis Incredible. You think. the problem with young men is they haven't had an opportunity to hear the democrats message?. You people are never gonna get it.
The bugmen just don't get it. and they never will. Modern is, at its core, about envious losers externalizing the blame for their own failure onto the successful, and wanting desperately to tear them down out of petty envy and malice. Therefore, they cannot take.
