Thanks for circulating, Steven. While it’s good that China is investing and picking up the torch, for someone who moved to US in 1993 for the outstanding first rate science, this is also sad to see. The US and NIH have been models of scientific leadership.
2025 Nature Index: Harvard has dropped to No. 2 after the Chinese Academy of Sciences. No. 1 and 3-9 are all Chinese research institutes. Meanwhile, American research institutes are facing a 43% cut in NIH funding and a 50% cut in NSF funding. Please, don���t look up.

Neuronal aging causes mislocalization of splicing proteins and unchecked cellular stress.

Dot Bennett, Parmjit Jat and myself organized the first European Cell Senescence Association Mtg at Cambridge UK, 2013. This has now grown to the annual ICSA meeting, this year in Rome, Sept 17-19. I am sure this will be another excellent meeting

This work uses the melanocyte model system to show that integrity of epigenetic development in utero determines late life healthy aging. Phenomena such as "the Dutch Hunger Winter" support the relevance of this in humans.
