@davidnix_ Live coding is such a bad idea. Nobody, and I mean nobody, thinks straight when someone else is watching them work. I type 100wpm and if you walk up behind me, it's like all my fingers switched places with each other.

@VulcanWM I saw this on HackerNews once. It resonated with me and I think you might find it helpful: If motivation were a battery you wouldn't try to recharge it and use it at the same time. It might get you a little more uptime but the stress leads to early failure.

@SamNewby_ I've done that. All my new web projects are plain old HTML, CSS (I do use Tailwind, though), JS, and PHP on the backend. It's just a joy.

@MaverickAlbert5 When joining a company, ask to spend 2-3 weeks fixing bugs. It will quickly expose you to the entire codebase and solve customer problems at the same time.

@ratoshi21 The abstraction of low/no-code platforms isn't the problem, in my opinion. It's the lack of flexibility that code provides. Inevitably, in my experience, the project requirements demand something of you that can only be solved with code.

@w3whq @davidnix_ By "circumstances" I assume you mean pressure, which is a notion I reject. I've worked in high-pressure situations and not once did someone stand over me judging my code. Interviews are already high-pressure. Why crank it up to eleven in a meaningless way?

@csallen Maybe use the thought that if you get your nutrition in order and develop a regular body-movement habit then you’ll get to continue enjoying those things and much more for a long time. “Eat whatever” is already causing you problems, guaranteed.

@thdxr All your code on one line. Single-letter or nonsensical variable names whenever possible. Don't test. Don't comment. Don't remove dead code. Pay more attention to how many monitors you have than how good you are at your job.

I've been germinating a theory that AI may actually be the death of Open Source. More individuals and companies will go back to compiled and proprietary products because they don't want their code to be used to train an AI that their competitors will use. What do you think?

@waq_r I don't think they're overpriced, though. I bought my previous MBP in April of 2013 and used it until I bought my M1 in 2021. Meanwhile, a close friend went through at least four far cheaper laptops in that time. By the way, that MBP still works. His laptops are dead.

If they have no code to show me then that tells me they're very green and, if the job requirements allow for that and I otherwise like them, then I say hire and teach them.

@holmanm I had a doc say he might put me on a statin *because* I do keto since that can elevate LDL. Aside from that I’m healthier and in better shape than I’ve ever been in my life and all my other numbers look amazing. I straight-up told him no.

@davidnix_ Wordpress seems to me to be a platform that hosts several no-code plugins because the one that comes with it has historically had limited functionality. Though, in my experience, the other no-code plugins don't work very well either.
