Totally agree. And whilst doctors then earn more and more before early retirement and massive pension, people in these jobs slog away for years with low salaries followed by a shorter and very modest retirement.

Worth noting that the Met is almost an entirely different org/culture than the rest of the police.
The Met does terrible harm to the reputation of the police, which is filled with hard working and under valued staff that risk their life everyday for us.

Found a large bag of money under a loose floorboard about two years ago. Kids went crazy. Currencies from across Asia, total value ended up about £10 but didn’t have the heart to tell them.
Annoyed with the previous owners, so I put it back where we found for the next people!

The economic impact of Brexit is almost impossible to model (accurately) and also needs to be viewed over a 10-20 year time horizon.
We got independence and most of us have happily moved on.

Yeah ok that’s fair, but it should also be acknowledged that the force regularly abandons good officers when they’ve done nothing wrong.
Morale within the force has never been lower, pay is crap and the risk has never been higher. We need to be careful what we wish for.

Yes I agree with that. I’ve known lots of colleagues where this is true and yet they still say they prefer working from home. It’s inevitable people are drawn to the convenience but it’s incredibly unhealthy for some people.

People got fed up of being ruled by elites. The breakdown of trust since then is because noone has seriously or honestly engaged with that issue.

I’m not a good example.
But general points; I work better with others - I thrive in a collaborative environment. I have a busy home life which can impede more if I’m WFH. I’m more motivated to contribute when I can see/feel impact. A physical space helps me have brand loyalty.
