Savings Safety Limit increased TODAY. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme limit is now £120,000 per person per financial institution (it was £85,000). The lifetime events (eg inheritance, house sale) rule is now £1.4m per person per institution for 6mths (was £1m)

The Budget's Predicted Impact on Energy Prices It was announced there's be '£150 off a typical bill on 1 April 26', all other things remaining equal. Good news. In practice this is a - 3.5p/kWh reduction (c13%) in elec unit raterate - 0.35p/kWh reduction (c6%) in gas unit

Hi @PJTheEconomist, that was my follow up question. As I said on the show she told me this is only for people with no other income than state pension. I posited an edge case of a £50/yr income eg from private pension and she said no, tax would still need paying then. I'll find
Not sure how this works. If taxable income is over personal allowance due to state pension = no tax, what happens if you have £1000 of other income? if you only tax the £1000 you have effectively raised allowance to state pension. If you tax the lot, you create a big tax spike
