Mitochondrial mutations may impose a hard limit on lifespan. Reducing IGF-1 signaling, a known lifespan extender, completely failed to extend life in mice with unhealthy mitochondrial DNA. mtDNA health could be the foundation for many other hallmarks of aging

Energy metabolism is really quite remarkable. Little bits of energy we call metabolites flow continuously, converging in our mitochondria (TCA or Krebs cycle) where they are re-routed and directed where needed. The basis of life and health is the flow of energy. Great animation

Everyone knows that lactate while exercising makes it hard to maintain performance. It turns out that lactate also indicates low #motivation in the brain.#Lactate in the prefrontal #cortex correlates with less effort made in a physical or mental task.
