@maximumcharacte I think government should take a holistic view on this and consider updating their priors on how important FMVSS is for actually saving lives. Clearly our approach doesn't work.

American cities are so addicted to Industrial zoning. Like the entire point of zoning was to keep industry away from people! Now we're preserving highly desirable parts of Williamsburg to low value-add dirty industry because of the vibes.

Unpopular opinion, but it shouldn't be a park. Sell it off and let the market build a ton of housing on the lot.

After some attention with the help of @KCRW and @UrbanizeLA signs that have been up for a decade, promising the people of L.A. a $28 million dollar downtown park, have just been removed, long after the project died for lack of sufficient funds.

Every brownstone in NYC is in a constant state of repair. Go anywhere in the Upper West Side, and there is work being done on “crumbling” brownstones. Lol. This is a historically significant piece of architecture they are getting paid $30M to tear down. .

As an alum, Columbia is getting so much press not because the protests there are especially bad…but because the entire media industry is in subway distance, and a decent chunk of them went to the Journalism school.

Framing Viagra as an erectile dysfunction drug and not stating it as a medication created for pulmonary arterial hypertension patients is deliberately misleading and dangerous.

@PEWilliams_ Renters and young people don’t vote. I feel like it’s hard to get good policy passed when constituents don’t turn out

@mattyglesias It will also most likely be an actually progressive reform! Too much of modern "progressivism" is finding ways to subsidize the lives of already privileged college grads who have the clout to complain on social media.

@transitlanta I use LA metro daily and he’s right. The current state of the system is really bad. I have had to get off buses with 20 minute headways bcs the stench is so overpowering. I don’t take my friends on the system anymore bcs I can’t guarantee it won’t turn them off for life.
