Car insurers refusing to insure bad drivers is obviously good and socially desirable. I hope this guy loses.
Romeo Chicco struggled to get car insurance in December and was rejected by 7 different insurers.
It turns out GM sold the driving history from his 2021 Cadillac to Lexis Nexus which then provided that data to insurance companies for risk assessment.
He is now suing both.

Traffic is going to get *worse* and I don't think people fully understand that. When the 'cost' of driving goes down, people will drive for longer and *more*.
When self driving eliminates traffic, LA will be incredible. If LA had real and efficient mass transit it’s also be amazing.
At 5am it takes 16 minutes to get somewhere it normally takes 30 with “no traffic”. 45-60 in rush hour.

I live in LA. I currently qualify for over $15k+ in direct rebates/subsidies to buy an electric car. I currently use the bus daily. Every single dollar would be better spent on dedicated bus lanes, bus shelters, etc...you know, the stuff that actually solves climate change?

hawaii's governor signed an order to exempt all housing from zoning laws, historic preservation laws, and community review
but the Sierra Club sued, his chief of housing resigned after death threats, and they caved and restored the entire local process

Preventing pedestrian deaths in minority-majority communities is not racist actually. People driving through largely do not live there. Pedestrians overwhelmingly do.
One specific, notorious advantage of red light cameras is that they are generally pretty damn racist, placed at intersections in poor, ethnic neighborhoods and not in places where mayonnaise folks like will live.

I use LA metro daily and he’s right. The current state of the system is really bad. I have had to get off buses with 20 minute headways bcs the stench is so overpowering. I don’t take my friends on the system anymore bcs I can’t guarantee it won’t turn them off for life.
