Corporations *must* investigate if they're funding hate speech, voter suppression, etc. by running social media ads.
And if they are, they must stop.
Google is facing a shareholder vote today on whistleblower protections.
It hasn't lived up to its promises. It's cracked down on dissent, alienating workers & damaging the company long-term.
Investors have a chance to reverse course.

Google has had a banner year for retaliation against workers:
—The NLRB found they illegally fired workers in response to organizing.
—Google fired
@timnitGebru
after research critical of AI models.
—Google then fired
@mmitchell_ai
for speaking out about the above.
This is the second year we've put this forward at Alphabet. Last year, the board said its internal policies were good enough.
Then Dr. Timnit Gebru & Meg Mitchell were fired for speaking up.
The existing protections aren't enough. Alphabet must do more.
Whistleblower protections help workers, they help investors, they help the long-term health of the company.
The only ones they don't help are managers keeping a tight lid on speech & dissent at Google.
Investors shouldn't listen to them. Vote these protections through.

Shareholders are pressuring Meta to make meaningful policy changes in this year’s annual meeting on May 25.
Proposals on the ballot implicate the metaverse project and concealment clauses, as well as civil rights impacts, lobbying and misinformation.
