Please don't marry a vegetarian if you are a non-vegetarian. The vegetarian will ruin your life! They'll say 'I am pure veg' & not allow meat in the house. This will cause jhopadpatti disease called anaemia. A man I know has blood vitamin B12 lvl 33 thanks to his vegetarian wife.

I stopped eating wheat rotis (Indian flatbread) in an attempt to go lowcarb. Stopped beer completely. HbA1c down from 6 to 5.3 in 5 months. Now I can do weight training & swimming consistently. When HbA1c is high, blood sugar isn't entering muscles. We patients don't know this.

@AnshulGains Vitamin B12 and all B complex vitamins are water soluble. They are thrown out by the body in excreta and urine. Hence, in the old days, drinking water from wells & rivers, which was contaminated with animal & human waste, was a source of vitamin B12.

I do this for myself. Not for others but for myself. Teenaged me suffered psychological & physical troubles due to vitamin B12 deficiency. I was cured with medicines that costed less than INR 200. I do this because I wish that teenaged me could have been similarly helped earlier.

Vitamin B12 is also made by the bacteria in the human gut. RO water removes cobalt alongwith other minerals. In the absence of cobalt, gut bacteria cannot make cobalamin (B12). If you are a vegetarian, use an UV only water filter, not a RO filter. Nonvegetarians get B12 from meat

HbA1c above 5.7 puts us at a risk of frozen shoulder, tennis elbow & trigger finger to state a few problems. We are not diabetic but still in a state of hyperglycemia which can cause inflammation in the joints. Even the threat of hearing loss, insomnia & irritation is there.

Bookmark this. India has a high degree of vegetarianism with even non-vegetarians having near vegetarian diets. The way doctors are calling for avoidance of fortified malt powders like Bournvita, Horlicks, Complan etc, we are going to see a rise in pediatric B12 deficiency cases.

Hello Everyone with prediabetes a.k.a. HbA1c above 5.5. Follow the FODMAP diet for the next 3 months & check your HBA1C again. We have to stop wheat totally. Do not replace it with millets. You can have rice about 100gms. You can eat till full if you eliminate all food under red.

References: Point 1 ⬇️ Indian non-vegetarians tend to have near vegetarian diets. Their B12 status is slightly better than lacto ovo vegetarians & vegetarians. Only daily meat eaters have vitamin B-12 status similar to that of nonvegetarians in the West.

@theliverdr I didn't last in any yoga class. They all advocate vegetarianism/ 'Sattwik' lifestyle. I would begin to wonder, "In class 10 & class 12 biology we learnt that vitamin B12 comes from non-veg only. Where do these people get B12 from?" Evidently, a balanced diet isn't their concern.

Look for a dish with 3 sections. This is how I have my meals. It's not complicated. My HbA1c came down from 6 to 5. I had found out via the FODMAP diet that wheat gave me bloating in 2021 but cultural mindblocks kept wheat in diet. Following @shashiiyengar , I gave up wheat rotis.

Compare meat intakes of Scandinavian children and that of Indian children. After India achieves the same levels of per capita meat and fish consumption as Scandinavian nations, we will discourage consumption of fortified malt powders with milk here. You have my support!

Scandinavian kids are drinking milk as it is, and they are also growing fine. Why do Indian kids need to add sugar-heavy health supplements to milk? Sweden’s diabetes rate is in decline while India's is going to touch double digits.

The common sources of Vitamin B12 are: Fish (approx. 1.4-6) Beef (1.7) Pork (0.7) Egg (1.8) Mutton (2.8) Liver (90) Chicken (0.3) Milk (0.14). All values as μg/100gm of item. Plants don't have the enzymes to make vitamin B12. Recommended intake of B12 is 2.4-2.8 μg/day.

When animals eat plants, we must understand that the surface of that foliage has been peed & pooped upon by birds & other animals. Animals directly or indirectly eat insects. So vitamin B12 from excreta of other animals is on the leaves. That's how animals get B12 from plants.

India is largely anemic due to Aryan i.e. Punjabi/Haryanvi dominance in food policy decision making. These Aryan origin guys are abnormally lactose lolerant, unlike the rest of the world. Since they can get most of their proteins from dairy, they haven't developed meat industry.

@ChrisPalmerMD I stopped eating wheat rotis (Indian flatbread) in an attempt to go lowcarb. Stopped beer completely. HbA1c down from 6 to 5.3 in 5 months. Now I can do weight training & swimming consistently. When HbA1c is high, blood sugar isn't entering muscles. We patients don't know this.

Don't feed such crap to your kids. 1. High nuts content her powder raises the risk of oxalate kidney stones. 2. Bournvita comes fortified with crystalline vitamin B12 which is absent in that powder. Irresponsible Indians deny both non-veg food & fortified foods to their kids.
