i just found out VS Code is written in Typescript what the fuck i just assumed since it's Microsoft that it'd be written in C# that's probably the second stupidest thing to write in Typescript after the Typescript compiler

are LLMs getting dumber talking through designing a language grammar, i mention that putting `{ 1 }` in the middle of a sequence of statements in Rust throws a type error and `{ 1 };` doesn't GPT explains why `{ 1 }` compiles (it doesn't) and that `{ 1 };` is the same thing

GPT-5.1 is out! It's a nice upgrade. I particularly like the improvements in instruction following, and the adaptive thinking. The intelligence and style improvements are good too.

for short term projects (<6 months) US timezones are fine too! for EU-based companies, working as an employee rather than subcontractor is also possible, the tax rates just might make me prohibitively expensive. not a non-negotiable tho
