Saying “powerful” “force” “shaping … media” about a chassidic Jew (and naming her when it appears to be open hunting season for Orthodox Jews in certain places) is a complicated, risky thing to do. The reporter and her editors must have thought this was *that* important.

When I spent time in four chassidic schools with pretty free reign talking to kids while reporting on this, I found the opposite. The range of language skills matched what I’ve found in non-chassidic schools. One was one the schools named as “failing.”
