The MX Biobank paper is out today in @Nature! This is the first national-scale genomic database in Mexico and the largest independent project led by my lab @cinvestav since I returned to my home country to help building local capacity. https://t.co/uXt4xhYkhT

Beautiful illustration of the practical benefits of modeling human ancestry as a continuum, rather than a series of discrete clusters.
We observe a continuous decay of PGS accuracy along the genetic distance across the entire biobank as well as within each considered genetically inferred ancestries. This is not unique to ATLAS; the trend is also replicated in UKBiobank as well. 6/

The exciting reveal of Ultima Genomics last week was accompanied by the publication of four preprints. Intrigued by the potential of the technology, @sinabooeshaghi & I decided to take a look at the data. A 🧵 about our findings & a preprint we posted: https://t.co/0tesu0Xqac 1/

I believe in science, I believe in common-sense gun safety, and I know that we can’t let the NRA or the filibuster stop us from protecting our people. https://t.co/qRocFmxaXf

"Scientists should not sit on the sidelines & watch others fight this out...Science can show that gun restrictions make societies safer...that mental illness is not a determinative factor in mass shootings. And science can show that racism is measurable & leads to violence." 💯
