3 July 1944 | 9 prisoners (a Pole, a Polish Jew and 7 Russians) escaped through a 25-meters tunnel from a sub-camp of KL #Auschwitz "Eintrachthütte". Preparation to this escape lasted over 2 months.

3 July 1951 | Tadeusz Borowski (b. 1922) died of suicide. He was a poet, writer & journalist. A prisoner of the German Nazi #Auschwitz camp (no. 119198). A lot of his post-war literature described the horrors of the camp.

3 July 1943 | A Polish man, Franciszek Kolbe, was incarcerated in #Auschwitz (no. 127600). A brother of Fr. Maximilian Kolbe. Arrested as a soldier of the Home Army in Zduńska Wola. In October 1943 transferred to KL Buchenwald. He perished in KL Mittelbau on 23 January 1945.

2 July 1915 | Antoni Czortek, a Polish boxer was born in Buśnia. He competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. In Auschwitz from 24 August 1943 .No. 139599.He boxed in the camp. He survived the Death March to KL Mauthausen where he was liberated. Czortek passed away in 2004.
