.@SecKennedy - thank you so much for your broad support for gene editing and gene therapies as well as recognizing the importance of Baby KJ’s story and the potential that CRISPR base editing therapies hold for patients with severe genetic diseases. I’m thrilled you have publicly
Thursday morning, I had the privilege of speaking with the Muldoon family, whose 10-month-old son, baby KJ, was discharged Wednesday from @ChildrensPhila. Baby KJ was diagnosed with a rare urea cycle disorder and received a first-of-its-kind personalized CRISPR gene-editing

Base editing can introduce a precise mutation into the genome. But what if one wants to make multiple different types of base edits at the same time? That’s why @KomorLab from @UCSDPhySci created MOBE, a multiplexed base editing toolkit. https://t.co/xkSSshIYeb

Excited my PhD work is out now @NatureBiotech! We report Multiplexed Orthogonal Base Editor (MOBE) systems: tools to simultaneously install distinct point mutations. MOBEs introduce co-occurring genetic variants (polygenic disease, haplotypes)🧬 🧵⬇️ 1/

A new report in @NEJM from Waseem Qasim and coworkers describes the clinical outcomes of the first three T-cell leukemia patients treated with triply base-edited CAR-T cells in the first clinical trial of a base edited therapeutic, conducted at Great Ormond Street Hospital in the
Three patients with T-cell ALL were treated with allogeneic CAR T cells that were base-edited to prevent CAR T-cell fratricide and graft-versus-host disease and to evade lymphodepleting serotherapy.
