@AndyGoode10
Massive mistake to make him captain. His performance today was embarrassing. Woefully out of form. Leadership totally non-existent. Should be nowhere near the 23.
@RugbyBits
Thought Dupont was actually very good today. Didn’t think Reinach bothered him much at all. But De Klerk was a key factor off the bench. His game management in final ten mins was critical.

England went backwards under Jones after 2019. Fluked a win v SA in 2021 and you forget that the rugby we played against NZ last autumn was absolutely dire for 70 mins. Jones had to go. Borthwick was the wrong man to replace him.
@willgkelleher
Watching the replays, that’s a strange decision. Trouble was that Genge and Sinckler had already made up the ref’s mind from previous scrums.
@JoeMarler
She’s not wrong, Joe, and she’s been far kinder than what most England fans and pundits think. No wonder Twickenham will be half empty on Saturday
@RugbyQuins
@harlequinspod
It’s not working. Farrell should be the starting ten with two proper centres. Marcus off the bench, although I’d be happy having him playing more often for Quins again.
@AndyGoode10
Game improved massively after HT when the officials bothered refereeing Leinster’s constant infringements. They got away with murder in the first half. La Rochelle very worthy winners.
@LennieNewman1
Agreed. He has made no impact this tournament. Picked on reputation alone. Looked puffed jogging onto the pitch. Lewis would have made a massive difference off the bench tonight.
@JamesOlley
Witty and charming when things are going his way. Snaps very quickly when under a morsel of scrutiny. Spurs should have won today and Klopp has been well and truly rattled.
@JNPhillips4
Absolutely. I’d be really encouraged if I were a Welsh fan. Gritty and resilient. Coped with some pretty dire officiating at times. Reffell looks at home on the international stage. Delighted for Anscombe too.

So Jones has deliberately had England playing terrible rugby for the past three years and he would miraculously turn us into world beaters next autumn? You’re living in cloud cuckoo land.

Finn showed why he is the best ten in the Six Nations. His game management skills are brilliant. Eddie Jones was clueless with all his subs, not just taking Smith off. Jones just as much to blame as LCD.
@CharlieFelix
It isn’t just the place kicking. Farrell hasn’t played well for England in years. He holds the side back. Borthwick’s decision to pick him as captain was a huge mistake. Ford and Smith are both much better fly halves.

The article starts promisingly, but descends into the usual man propping up the bar gibberish we have come to expect from SJ. Yes, England need a new head coach, and The Times could do with a new scribe.
Third place disguises so many woes. The RFU should not let Eddie Jones get away with his usual “building for the World Cup maaate” drivel. We are nowhere near the levels of France, SA, NZ, or Ireland. Anyone have Rassie’s number?

They did. The Mount, Sterling and Foden combination was great. I guess there’s a balance to be found between keeping the momentum going and maintaining morale.
@JacobSteinberg
I don’t think team selection was an issue today. We created more than enough chances to win the game. Two points dropped due to poor finishing.
