Have you ever noticed the Sturgeon Lamps on the Thames Embankment?    The first ones were used to light the embankments from the early 1870s, based on statues at the Fontana del Nettuno in Rome. Further lamps were added in 1977 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee.
