A very tough second 40 for the Bulls. We can be a sexy as we like on attack but if we have no defence then we’re style over substance. And sadly that’s where we are this season. Flash with no follow through.

@rugby_ap WP Nel another good example – more than a decade in Scotland, 4 kids born here, and when he tried SA for a bit post retirement, they missed Scotland too much, so he’s now moved back permanently Does seem a bit more unnecessary when it’s England with their huge population though

And last caveat - I don’t think it’s a question of ‘he isn’t good enough for S.A. so why should he play for England’. He is good enough for international rugby, he just doesn’t fit SA’s system and what we want from a 12 particularly. But under a different Bok coach he could well

It’s an odd one because I fully get where Care is coming from and have a lot of time for that viewpoint. But then you look at a guy like Pierre Schoeman - the most Afrikaans guy you could imagine - who has so wholeheartedly and fully thrown himself into Scotland and embraced
Good on Danny Care for saying how absurd it is. If van Rensburg was good enough for the Springboks, he would have been picked.

West Indies in Tests seem to produce a string of tepid performances and then inevitably one that is off the charts special.
🚨 WEST INDIES HAS BATTED 163.3 OVERS IN THE 4th INNINGS TO GET A DRAW IN NEW ZEALAND 🤯 Justin Greaves - 202*(388) Shai Hope - 140(234) Kemar Roach - 58*(233) From 72/4 to 457/6 while chasing 531 runs...!!! There is hope in West Indies cricket.

D-day for the Bulls against one of the best club sides in the world. These are the opponents you want to measure yourself against. Hope we can put on a worthy performance

Can only agree with this. Good conduct and remorse are always mitigation so no issues with them being applied here consistently. But you have to query the starting point and why no aggravation was applied.
An intentional thumb in the eye only costs you 12 weeks of rugby 'Good conduct' & 'remorse' at the hearing are deemed mitigation for a deliberate eye gouge What planet are some people living on?

Eben claims that a hand is put across his face but contact is *not* made with his eyes. Fair enough. I apologise for accusing Mann of a gouge. I maintain that I did so out of a *genuine* belief based on the footage I saw but clearly I was wrong. For that I apologise. That

Agree on this as well. Have said previously that I don’t really like these character references figuring in.
@rugby_ap I also don’t know how I feel about the Savea character reference, etc and applauding it. No doubt Eben is world great player, decent bloke (by all accounts) but this has to be separated from the disgraceful act he committed on the field that day

12 weeks for Eben. Would be interested to read the full judgment because honestly I think that is not long enough for an act that was clearly and demonstrably intentional and is as reprehensible as it is. I have never seen ‘need for deterrent’ ticked. Genuinely want to

If true, I think scandalous. You simply cannot be banned for that period of time for an intentional act as dangerous as that (no matter what triggered it - and everyone knows my thoughts on what triggered it).

I’m going to tell you right now that they won’t.
@rugby_ap Are they applying the Jan Hendrik Wessels rule?

Worth saying that Etzebeth also claims he was gouged. To pretend it’s just ‘blurry screenshots’ is totally disingenuous. There’s footage that makes it quite clear. But carry on with your ‘pushback’ as you like.
Bloke has dragged Alex Mann’s name through the mud last few days with only blurry screenshots that shows no evidence of contact to the eye area. Trying to ruin someone’s reputation with no recourse deserves pushback.

This shot was 👌 lofted drive over cover. Tracer to the fence. Breetzke is so compact; like a compressed coil, so much energy.

It would be the eighths right? But Octals does sound better.
“Round of 16” is so clunky. Can we rename it? Share your ideas, please. Semis Quarters Octals? #worldcup #RWC #RugbyWorldCup #rugby @SquidgeRugby @SARugbymag @rugbyworldcup @WorldRugby @RugbyPass @rugby_ap @Springboks
