It doesn’t take years to design the drug. It takes years to figure out if you were right. Could we make that faster? Yes, probably with a lot of work (and success won’t come all at once). But I’m gonna bet the immediate answer isn’t just a better algorithm….
Firstly, Demis is absolutely right to be frustrated by drug dev timelines - it is a huge part of what motivates us too!. Now. He said the end of disease is “soon within reach.” “Within a decade or so,” Demis does not see (from first principles) why not. From my perspective.

People tend to focus way too much on who "wins" a "debate" on one of these shows, while the best of them recognize the end goals and talk about how to get there . (The best of the best even recognize the weaker parts of their theses/positions and admit/discuss them).
