Imagine what happened in Pakistan happening across an entire continent The disruptive potential of solar is only just beginning You love to see it š
This is new... December 2024 shows a big pick up in solar panels in many African countries. 20-80MW per month is not small for these countries. I wonder why? China aggressively seeking new markets?

#BREAKING The Greens were up all last night in 11th hour negotiations with Labor and Iām happy to say we've locked in some good outcomes. 1. $500m for public & community housing upgrades 2. Coal, oil and gas projects will get $0 from Future Made In Australia

Please don't tweet at all. Are you on bluesky?
Ahhhh! See this is why I shouldnāt tweet numbers late at night. The cement sink is 800,000,000 tonnes of CO2 per year! I missed a few zeros. ht @AndriMagnason for noticing.

Need some good climate news as you deal with your election anxiety? Today the UK gov't - the birthplace of the industrial revolution - said getting off coal wasn't enough they're now going to slash gas use down to 5% by 2030 You just love to see it https://t.co/YYRXhtagtN

Expert analysis backs our policy and its benefits for the country. Defeatist critics should take note, says Ed Miliband, secretary of state for energy security and net zero

Not only is South Dakota the only US state that has produced the equivalent of over 100% of its yearly electricity demand with #WindWaterSolar (mostly wind), but SD is now adding batteries to fill in gaps https://t.co/xl3xp7nzhc Data by state and country https://t.co/KP3uii4BqI

One neighbor worries about the chance of fire from the system designed to provide energy when it's needed.
Just to break it down for South Dakota Annual-100.6% WWS as % of demand (78.4% wind; 26% hydro; 1.18% solar) Sum 23-75.4% WWS Aut 23-108% WWS Win 24-109% WWS Spr 24-132% WWS Just adding more solar + batteries will get SD to >100% #WindWaterSolar every season and 24/7/365

Years ago, while I was doing consulting work for the City of Sydney, Australia, there was an INFAMOUS day where a particularly bad state minister of transportation was stuck in traffic, and saw bike riders zoom by his limousine in a safe, protected bike-lane. He had a petty

See what he thinks of SunTrain and the linear potential for PV on rail lands
Late notice, but: tomorrow I'm recording a pod with Bill Moyers of @SolutionaryRail, who argues that the US is vastly underutilizing its rail system & should be a) moving freight to, b) electrifying, & c) stringing transmission wires along its railways. Got questions?

The name āVPPā completely undersells the value proposition. Youāre not just aggregating tiny resources to āvirtuallyā create a power plant. Distributed generation isnāt just generation. Itās generation, and transmission, and distribution. T&D is 40% of the cost of electricity.

We care about Bezos compromising the journalistic integrity and independence of the paper to protect his other businesses from reprisal by Trump. It corrupts WaPo. It reveals Bezos's lack of integrity. And it's a form of pre-emptive surrender to fascism.
Why do people care so much who (if anyone) the Washington Post endorses? Are there people out there like, āI was going to vote for Harris, but then the Washington Post didnāt explicitly endorse her, so Iām voting for Trump.ā

@apoorv_bh89 It's shiny, regardless of feasibility, timeline, or plausible return on investment.

But we can transition to a cleaner and safer energy system. It is within our reach. We need to implement the Paris Agreement and build a @fossiltreaty to ensure the just transition is fast, fair and financed. #ClimateActionNow

Chery has revealed plans to install solid state batteries in production vehicles by 2026 at its Global Innovation Conference in Wuhu. The Chinese car marker claims a current energy density of 400Wh/kg, with a target of up to 600Wh/kg for a range of over 1500km @CheryAutoCo

#WEO24 PS the IEA pushes back hard on nonsense about AI data centre demand eating the global energy system (Ofc that won't stop the hype cycle) 14/13 https://t.co/jpJRpYRv8a
The @IEA's latest outlook tries to put the data center electricity demand boom in context, as @Ben_Geman reports for #axiosgenerate: https://t.co/GSIXGQGJtw

Great way of representing it @CleanPowerDave Are you on Bluesky? A lot of folk would love this there!
I remember making this graphic back in 2018, tracking the UK's coal-free days for the first time.. Now from 1-October, when the UK's last coal power plant is closed, every day forever more will be coal-free and greenšŖ
