Despite this election, I remain an optimist about America and the world. Humanity will continue to produce new ideas and new innovations to improve our lives. Good people will continue to come together to improve the world. And the political tide will turn. We'll make it so.

Flexible charging (and V2G) matters: uncontrolled evening charging can lean on gas/coal; controlled/V2G boosts the business case for new wind/solar/storage, so total system emissions can fall even as EV load rises. 6/

In geographies with lots of consistent sun throughout the year, batteries + solar provide baseload at the same cost as nuclear. By the time a new reactor can get built, the solar+battery solution will be ~1/2 the price.

Old news, but I need to remind some people on here that you can now build a 1GW *baseload* solar + battery plant at about the same cost as a 1GW nuclear plant. And 5x faster. UAE launches world’s first 24/7 solar PV battery storage gigascale project

Batteries are the new solar. This is just the beginning. They're going to see explosive growth over the next decade. Maybe a quintupling of scale over the next 10 years.

Battery energy storage system era is here. Countries across the globe are scaling up storage the next few years (and for years to come). Over 250 gigascale projects could come online within two years. Battery capacity as % of peak loads rising across key markets.

Following and recording ICE is legal so long as you don't directly interfere in their actions. This man was exercising his 1A rights. The ICE agents violated them and should be arrested.

Reminder that Texas is headed for a two-year electricity demand expansion not seen since the state’s boom years of the 1960s and is running about five-times the national growth rate.

This question--why can't we just solve our rare earths problem already!--comes up a lot. As someone who worked on this when I was in government, several thoughts. This is to explain, not defend, why we are where we are, and to offer recommendations. Clearly, we need to fix the

I was talking with a friend and made this confession: When I was younger, I thought everything was settled, pretty much. Feudalism bad. Nazism bad. Communism bad. Liberal democracy good. Etc. How weird it has been to discover, at this stage, that nothing is settled.

Even people in AI keep forgetting what log-linear scaling laws mean. The improvement from 100k GPUs to 1 million GPUs is the same as 10k to 100k. Which is the same as 1k GPUs to 10k. It'll be better, but there are severe diminishing returns to compute.

GPT-5 was trained on 180,000 GPUs, a true powerhouse. By the end of this year, OpenAI will have over 1 million GPUs, according to Sam Altman. My bet: the GPT-6 training run starts right after that… and by mid-2026, we’ll be looking at AGI. The acceleration is insane.

No tipping point modeling is ever exact. And AMOC collapse is currently highly debated. Nevertheless, this should: 1. Concern everyone. 2. Make clear that our actions still matter.
