A huge milestone in new energy technology: as of today, @Eavor is producing clean power (and heat) with the first commercial, utility-scale multilateral closed-loop geothermal project in the world! Congratulations to the whole Eavor team. More details via the link below.

I encourage folks to watch this video and then realize that's just the baseline expectation/cost for a Chinese EV (with many more higher end or lower end options). They completely blow out most American car companies of the water on quality and cost. China made an intentional

I lived with a Chinese EV for a few weeks to see if the hype is real. The car costs $42K, and turns out it feels like $75K+ EASILY One of the most impressive things I've ever reviewed: https://t.co/EHe358cvLt - A+ software and features. Feels like what would happen if Apple

Just some napkin math. Every $1/mmbtu adds fuel cost of about $7/MWh for an NGCC and about $10/MWh for a gas turbine or recip engine. An interesting one to keep an eye on as the data center boom has brought out a lot of new gas generation of all technology types.

Big if true: Capacity prices would have to be >2x the price cap that @pjminterconnect has filed @FERC to establish in order to serve data center needs through the capacity market, per new study by @CamusEnergy @encoord @Princeton's Zero Lab. Yikes.

I love an issue where I think people on opposing sides both have good points and there is *nuance*! I’m seeing this with the debate over electricity affordability. Two camps seem to be emerging: those who think the cost issue is caused by lacking supply, and the solution is to

This is what the world is moving to. High performance, cost competitive EVs with excellent software, entertainment & comfort features. Meanwhile, US automakers are retreating behind a moat of tariffs & welcoming Trump fuel efficiency rollbacks so they can just sell large gasoline

The WSJ reports on the historic news yesterday that @Eavor has begun operations of the first commercial-scale multilateral closed loop geotherm power project in the world! It's not every day that a new power tech has its "world's first" moment. Don't miss this

New Jersey's legislature is considering classifying E-bikes as motorized vehicles requiring license, registration and insurance. That is nuts and would deny a huge range of people an ideal and affordable mobility solution. A terrible idea.

Firm & flexible service for a given large load aren't mutually exclusive - these services can be complementary & enable faster access to capacity while firm upgrades are complete.

Valuable study here with a lot of details (110 pages!) A few things I thought were interesting: - The value from load flex in reducing system costs is minor (~10%) - Load flex (if achievable) is great news for solar, bearish battery/gas. For each GW of firm new data center

In this first-of-its-kind report, we use an ensemble of realistic grid models to show how "conditional firm" transmission service (where a portion of data center demand is flexible or can be served by on-site resources) can avoid costly, poorly used grid upgrades and BYOC

Research by Camus, encoord, & Princeton ZERO Lab shows that flexibility unlocks faster data center interconnections and helps internalize 100% of system costs.
