very tough, assembled this list off the top of my head. 10 favourites from the 21st century so far
10 of my favourite novels from the 21st century so far, each one a marvel and strongly recommended. Certain people like to claim no one is writing great fiction these days — they are, of course, talking through the back of their heads.

@CabanaDrives 'moral gatekeeping' more like classist bull . imagine saying someone is immoral and hurting 'the industry' for watching a pirated movie they couldn't afford otherwise. these people just don't others to have access to art. its that simple, lol.

@regularaugust yt video-'essayism' is the most half-baked, incendiary-prone, derivative stuff. the only good stuff on movies or books on yt are from those under 1k subs channels with grainy ass video quality, fr.

@pourfairelevide @CharlieGoldber srsly cannot comprehend how some brag about not reading. how people embrace mainstream slop as some one true quality and upper ceiling. as if reading Ulysses somehow alienates you 'from the world' and so incuriosity is mistaken for standard conformism.

@judysquirrels me saying this is irrelevant across everything, but i love your work and your writing. movies and literature saved my life and a critic's work is always an opportunity to think more rigorously about a piece and its potentiality.
