It’s a bit silly.

Being only 19 and getting to direct a feature length Backrooms movie that will get a theatrical release is actually pretty impressive. even if it turns out bad. 19 year olds when I was that age used to only direct stuff called “Jeff the Killer in Real Life” for YouTube.

So when there’s people with more footing in film study it’s all “they hate fun and are pretentious” as if it’s not healthy to have some people with wild perspectives that they can actually back up. Even if you do think they’re full of shit (sometimes they can be).

The reason everyone has gotten too upset with their new thing being less than 95% on RT is because a lot of those reviews aren’t from “film critics” exactly. More like bloggers and fandom writers that have more legitimacy in the eyes of aggregate sites.

This guy isn’t even that harsh. The way some of my mutuals talk about movies would drive you all crazy.
