Very happy to share our latest review in Current Opinion in Genetics and Development: “Timing mechanisms: insights from comparative neural differentiation systems”. It’s part of a great collection of reviews on developmental timing ⏳ https://t.co/EAZ2ehJcoF

To mark this year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, we've created a collection of miRNA-related papers Ambros and Ruvkun have published with us over the years, alongside a few reviews that showcase some of the many roles miRNAs play in development

Nobel Laureate and HMS Professor Gary Ruvkun shared lighthearted tales about his start, a science revolution, and the power of worms.

A 1,000,000th reminder the crucial importance of basic research. Ambros and Ruvkun were looking into understanding nematode genetics and development, not looking for a drug, and ended up opening an entire new area in biology

An outstanding scientist and person! So well deserved!
Congratulations to our 2024 medicine laureate Victor Ambros ✨ This morning he celebrated the news of his prize with his colleague and wife Rosalind Lee, who was also the first author on the 1993 'Cell' paper cited by the Nobel Committee. #NobelPrize

Two all time favorites. You must read them together and appreciate the insight and vision!!!
Congrats to Ambros and Ruvkun! Read the original papers, which appeared together in 1993: https://t.co/Pa7uzFw1H7
https://t.co/lSo9t5ez30 Back then, the finding that small RNAs - not protein - produced at one locus could control protein expression from another was big news!

Such well deserved recognition! Gary’s excitement for science is contagious! Gary and Victor inspire so many of us who believe in curiosity driven research, (and who love the worm :)
Say good morning to our new medicine laureate 🎉 Gary Ruvkun was woken up in the early hours to the news he had been awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Stay tuned for our interview with him, coming soon.

Most of us learned in school about the Central Dogma: DNA->RNA->Proteins. For decades gene regulation was only about protein transcription factors regulating gene expression. Ambros and Rukun used the small nematode worm C. elegans to change that picture 1/2

Proud to see my PhD work published in @embojournal! We developed PUFFFIN, a cellular neighbour-labelling system, and demonstrated its effectiveness both in vitro and in vivo. In mESCs, PUFFFIN revealed that cells synchronise exit from naïve pluripotency with their neighbours.
Positive Ultra-bright Fluorescent Fusion For Identifying Neighbours (PUFFFIN) allows visualization and isolation of surrounding cells in culture, tissues, or embryos, for profiling non-cell-autonomous responses @_CellySally_ et al https://t.co/CoefaolcCt

High quality & careful work from the Ebisuya lab on 🐭⌛️👤⏳ Two Preprints in a week!! 🎊🎉🎊🤯 #1 measures and compres protein half-lives: Proteins are generally more stable in human than in mouse in PSM cells *stay tuned for findings in m vs h neural cells..
Another preprint from the lab today! https://t.co/lUReolhxnU We systematically compared protein degradation rates in in vitro human and mouse segmentation clocks. Human cells showed a pervasive trend of slower protein degradation than mouse! 1/
