Ebacc arrested the decline in languages education. If it had been prioritised as a performance measure, the reverse seen in 2013 could have been sustained. It doesn't take a genius to predict what the removal of Ebacc and changes to A8 and P8 will do.

This is a really good question. In fact the potential overlap of terms for writing in TLAC has been bugging me a bit. So I'm going to turn this into two separate questions and then answer them in a small ๐งต(w thanks to @teachingwrens:)
@Doug_Lemov The answer may well be on a page of TLAC but: is there a definition anywhere differentiating between โsilent soloโ and โstop and jotโ? I want to build in more formative writing with different expectations (ie ideas may not be fully formed) and wondering if S&J is best phrase

Great thread about why isolation booths are necessary in schools๐ It is a no brainer for me. Isolation booths reduce permanent and temporary exclusions AND they ensure the teacher can teach and the kids can learn. What on earth is the problem?
A thread about Isolation and Booths... We have almost 900 students at our school. We serve the two most deprived wards in our town. Over 50% of the school population are eligible for Pupil Premium. Our cohorts are predominantly white British.

Vikki Southall is supporting staff to know their class context and how adjustments should be applied within the house style. Our โFeed Forwardโ booklets structure active observation and ensure that knowledge gaps are identified and addressed, and individual need is met.

This is still something something I see quite often. While opportunities to free write, play with language and structure is important, directly teaching the components of grammar, structure, form, and style is necessary.

As soon as you achieve some understanding of an idea you begin to forget it... A quick refresher on the Forgetting Curve: https://t.co/CYkSlhabma

ย ย ย All of our recent TLAC books include discussions of a graph that all teachers should know about: the โForgetting Curve.โ It describes how learners forget things over time and how retrieval...

Part 1: Students Accelerating Their Learning! Over 80% of our Year 11 students have been attending at least one Period 6 session each week! This is an amazing display of dedication as they work hard to secure the best results and prepare for their mock exams.

It is hugely worrying that 7-9 minutes of every 30 minutes of lesson time, as reported in national surveys, are lost to poor behaviour. Leadership, behaviour systems/policies, parental power undermining schools, kids not receiving consequences etc have a lot to answer forโฆ

My parents did something wonderful. Instead of pocket money they gave us a book allowance (from about age 5), enough for 2-3 paperbacks a month, and we were taken to the bookshop to spend it. So many books that still enrich and warm my mind. https://t.co/NPLasNKksA

Bonkers conkers...
@tombennett71 My colleagues and I calculate that we have around 60 to 70 pupils wandering the corridors at any given time of the school day. SLT guidance is don't challenge them.
