In Sept 2022 1/9 Astrea secondaries were graded as 'Good'. With @AstreaErnulf now 'Good' in all areas, 9/9 are now 'Good' with four being 'Good' for the 1st time! Congratulations to everyone! đ This is a HUGE achievement! We now crack on with our mission to disrupt disadvantage!

This is completely accurate. Unless you have an agreed framework of what good staff practice looks like, itâs really hard to hold them to account, evaluate their performance, or coach them. Same with a behaviour policy. Unless itâs clearly understood by all, itâs difficult to
@adamboxer1 Really great post. I'm more convinced than ever that an agreed set of T&L principles is *vital* for any school. If it's free-for-all or ambiguous, any feedback a) is really hard to give and b) can be dismissed by a teacher having different preferences.

Aside from how ugly/naff this is, itâs a good example of self defeating (if usually well meaning) attempts at cultural relevance/accessibility which is ultimately a form of middle class gate keeping. Same mentality in education as âworking class kids wonât like Shakespeareâ

#HigherEducation Statistically, it would have been quite unlikely for me to go to University. Let alone go to Cambridge for my MA, or complete a PhD. When we talk about reducing university access, only the groups less likely to go, regardless of talent, suffer.

Critical thinking is not a matter of teaching critical thinking. It is domain specific, knowledge dependent and reliant upon transfer that doesn't take too much of a leap from one context to another. I cannot think critically as a mechanic one minute, and a doctor the next.
