My spouse wore a P100 or N95 all day every day, had 3 HEPAs running in his classroom at all times, taught outside, and provided KN95 and N95 masks for students (sadly few wore them).
He made it out of a year teaching in NYC without catching COVID from them & lessened the spread!
All these teachers I see on twitter claiming that there is nothing they can do to help the children in their care from getting sick and that all criticism should be directed at other authorities while admitting to not wearing masks in the classroom are fucking monsters. Not sorry

There is something to this. I have always had a touch of dyspraxia with my autism (clumsy, knocking into things, dropping stuff, rolling ankles, etc.).
BUT never when I dance, play sports, use knives, etc.

This is how I feel about my former friends and what little family I was still in contact with in 2020.
I’ve removed myself and see how they behave. We are no longer friends or in contact unless they change and admit wrongdoing and try to repair the harm they’re causing.

My spouse who wore a P100 or N95 at ALL times outside of our apartment only took sick days from teaching last year due to being burnt out from covering so much for all of the unmasked teachers who were out sick.
All school boards would need to do to see how effective masks have been is to check attendance rates for teachers that mask consistently. Compare the number of sick days taken by those people vs all teachers in aggregate. Especially during surges.

My spouse is an asthmatic wind musician and music educator. So safety affects him too. In summer 2021 he took a few outdoor only gigs and got everyone to agree to mask and test in the band, but then people started not doing it and we decided it was not worth it for him to

My spouse is a NYC teacher who wears a P100 or N95 from the minute he leaves our apartment until he gets home (only removing alone outside to eat with Far UVC). I put $500 in HEPA filters in his room.

Possibly never get to play again and kill me if he brought it home.
This has not been easy. We’ve fought a lot and spent $$$ on couples therapy.
He has left the classroom too now because he sees how little they care to keep anyone safe and the shit pay isn’t work the risk.
