The New York Times published this article in June 2020, then we pretended it never happened.
“The emerging picture indicates that the model for HIV treatment, a cocktail of antiviral drugs, may be a good bet for those with mild illness..."
So, monkeypox—a virus that can cause blindness, disfigurement, extreme complications, & death—has been reported on at least 5 college campuses & in county jails. It’s also infecting kids. There is no plan for fall/winter. We cannot accept doing nothing.
I’ve paid almost $30,000 on a $20,000 student loan from 2006. My balance is $24,000. I never missed a payment, & only entered forbearance recently. I filed for student loan forgiveness. Regardless of whether it is approved, I am never making a payment again. I don’t care anymore.
A “mild” case of Covid completely destroyed my life. To this day, I have not been hospitalized. Hearing media describe breakthrough cases as “mild” is HIGHLY OFFENSIVE. What part of “LongCovid is disabling” don’t people understand? How can we just allow everyone to get infected?
People are testing positive on rapid tests but their bosses are requiring PCR tests. They can’t find anyplace to get a PCR test, so they go to work with Covid. We are going to disable the entire population, & we won’t know until it’s too late. I can’t believe this is real life.
So again, New York Covid hospitalizations have surpassed Delta’s peak, no one is masking, there’s a Covid media blackout, and it’s only October.
Have a great day.
Imagine: You’re in your mid-30s, doing mid-30s things. One day, you get sick. You almost die, & it doesn’t go away. You’re now disabled. Other people report dying & becoming disabled by the same illness, while still others accuse the sick of lying. It’s chaos for a time.
I don’t want to live in a country that has all the money in the world for cops and war, but no money for public health and healthcare for all. There is no future in this. None.
When people finally realize they’re being manipulated—that repeated Covid infections cause permanent organ damage & autoimmunity, dramatically shorten life spans, exacerbate all pre-existing issues, & lead to a markedly decreased quality of life—they’re going to be furious.
When you see articles claiming Covid is affecting people in ways no one could have predicted, please remember *all of this* was predicted, but we listened to economists & corporations instead.
That’s right, the US has been feeding cows chicken waste. Other countries ban this practice. The wounds are always self-inflicted, & usually driven by profit motives.
H5N1: Ground-up chicken waste fed to cattle may be behind bird flu outbreak in US cows
Yes, ground-up chicken waste is being
fed to herbivorous cattle.
Friendly reminder: As the next surge rolls in, we aren’t going to hear about it. Data isn’t reliable, testing low, tons of cases aren’t reported, metrics were manipulated & data “recalculated” to present the illusion of dramatic improvement & normalcy. Protect yourselves.
Today I helped pick out funeral flowers for the 40-year old family member (vaxxed, boosted, “did everything right”) who died of Covid complications 3 months after their initial infection. They left a child behind. Removing public health measures was a massive mistake.
My 8-year old has LongCovid. The June reinfection set him back. His doctor ordered bloodwork & testing. He’s always exhausted & can’t tolerate physical activity. He’s very pale & has painful new GI issues & post-Covid ocular complications. Someday, we will regret mass infection.
In the last 24 hours I’ve learned the general public is completely unaware of LongCovid symptoms & what it does to one’s body. I shared the mildest signs & symptoms we have, & people are stunned. I’m realizing media has really done a number on people. We need to educate.
To recap: China is expecting 65 million cases a week. Covid deaths increased 420% in Denmark. Australia is drowning in Covid. In India, wastewater shows they just had a larger wave than Omicron. The virus is VERY rapidly mutating, yet Americans are instructed to believe in magic.
All three of my kids got Covid. Their hair is still falling out. Eldest has chest pain, exercise intolerance. Middle son has no hunger/thirst/taste & has lost weight; my youngest can’t feel his full bladder, & holds it until he sweats. No one knows what the future holds for kids.
I guess child labor really is a thing now. My 13 and 14-year old kids report many of their peers have jobs. I worked under the table a few hours a week in a sandwich shop at 14, but these kids are working legally, & some work long hours. Everyone has completely lost the plot.
I slept in my Aura 9210 mask because I have cancer and my kid has Covid, and it was super comfortable and I didn’t even wake up with marks on my face. People also give birth wearing N95s. I’m beginning to think anti-maskers are actually just gigantic whiny babies.
Covid isn’t a single event. It’s a trigger. It triggers new medical conditions. Preexisting conditions are exacerbated. It reactivates latent viruses. You age decades. Dysfunctional immune systems may not fend off pathogens efficiently in the future. It ends in premature death.
People are suddenly discovering the New York Times, The Atlantic, etc have veered to the right, and they can’t figure out why they’re suddenly fascist. When these formerly reliable outlets abruptly pivoted to pro-business/pro-virus coverage way back in 2021, people didn’t notice.
Everyone agreed Covid’s acute disease process lasts *at least* 3 weeks until the end of 2021, when the CEO of Delta Airlines decided the isolation period should be 5 days, & the CDC eagerly agreed.
It’s nonsense, & everyone knows it.
2,664 Americans died of Covid last week, while we were celebrating the end of the pandemic and traveling the country for the holidays. The coming weeks & months are going to be extremely painful.
@Kidfears99
@szetoinsitu
Knowing insulin’s creator sold the patent for $1 so everyone could have access to it really adds insult to injury. It’s HEINOUS. If this is Capitalism, it’s deadly.
Everyone I know in their 30s, 40s, & 50s are having existential crises because we’re all sick, realizing we can’t physically work until we drop, but we can’t afford survival either. Our Golden Years will be spent amid mass disease, extreme weather, fires, & food/water shortages.
everyone i know in their late 20s is having an existential crisis because we skipped our mid 20s in the pandemic. relationships fast-tracked, careers faltered, we lost those core identity-building years and now we feel like 23-year-old brains in bodies approaching 30
Initially, people took Covid seriously because there was comprehensive MEDIA COVERAGE. Now that there is no Covid coverage (or *any* coverage about imminent public health/climate threats) people don’t think there’s a threat. The media blackout isn’t accidental. It is deliberate.
As a high-risk family, our consumption has dropped SO dramatically since 2020. I fill up my gas tank once every 2 months. We accumulate a single bag of trash weekly. I only spend money on groceries & medicine. So anyway, this is why the public was urgently forced back to normal.
@DavidBegnaud
I spent 30yrs in DFW around these types. Initially normal, the change began post-911/FoxNews debut. After ‘08, they joined the Tea Party. By the time I left in ‘14, they were casually discussing lynching “Obama the Muslim” at preschool bday parties. Radicalization was a process.
So I’m getting labs done, and I had to fill out a Covid questionnaire via iPad for the first time in a year. Two out of three front desk staff are in surgical masks. My blood was drawn by a masked tech. This is a noticeable shift in a very short period of time, just saying.
We have finally been priced out of food delivery. Since 2020, we’ve ordered once a week—the same order, from the same 2 restaurants. At the beginning of 2020, our order was $56. In 2021-2022, it creeped up to $75-$85.
Today, the same order is $110, and we can’t do it at all.
My mom is currently on a plane, and she reports there are “multiple people wearing heavy duty respirators” on her flight. She also noticed a lot more people are masked at the airport, an obvious increase over last month.
Is the tide quietly turning?
We’ve reached a point where people don’t even question the data. We aren’t testing. The CDC changed the metrics & “recalculated” the data. Thousands of Americans are dying of Covid weekly. BA.2 is here, & the US is getting rid of data in a bid to make the virus disappear.
Two years ago, the CEO of Delta Airlines convinced the CDC to shorten the length of Covid’s disease course from 3 weeks to a month to 5 short days.
Today, blue states are leading the charge, with a 1 day isolation period & kids attending school with active Covid.
I’m tired of learning information MONTHS before our designated American public health experts simply by paying attention to the international science community on social media. Later, said experts act shocked & say there’s no way they could have known. It gets old.
The most dangerous people in a pandemic are those who will do anything to pretend everything is fine: ignoring mass infection, disability & suffering, justifying the deaths of their neighbors, & sacrificing the future for short term gain—all while forcing everyone to play along.
I hauled my broken, wasting body into Colorectal surgery amid skyrocketing Covid hospitalizations. I weigh less than 100 lbs. I’ve lost 60lbs since 2020. I don’t live, I exist.
Every single motherf**ker in this office is entirely unmasked. Doctors, staff, patients—everyone.
Because the United States is stuck in a propaganda bubble, most Americans don’t realize other countries are taking aggressive measures to contain Omicron and decrease transmission. Mass infection = surrender.
“Everyone’s getting Omicron” is a carefully calculated CHOICE.
What people perceive to be “THE END of the pandemic” is just us killing off/disabling everyone, one by one, quietly & behind closed doors, while pretending we’re doing something else.
I hate these in-between times…everyone believing with their whole hearts the pandemic is over, while over 10,000 Covid deaths are reported weekly, survivors disabled & quietly dropping out of society, all as we prepare to be steamrolled again. “Back to normal” is an illusion.
I just saw a tweet talking about how scary 2020 was, but very little has changed. The virus is still mutating & unpredictable. It’s still killing & disabling people. Public perception was FORCIBLY altered. We were led to believe it’s safe so we would continue working & consuming.
After a few Covid infections, a year of no precautions, & no shortage of powerful propaganda, people I love are no longer recognizable. They’ve become entirely new people, & it’s not just from “moving on.” This is something else. These are dramatic personality changes.
@davenewworld_2
A list of thirteen gut punches, and she didn’t even mention the ongoing pandemic, rampant ableism, eugenics, & assorted ongoing human rights violations in progress.
I don’t understand why the public is gawking at people who continue to mask. Whenever I’m the only masked person entering a space, every head turns on a swivel to stare at me simultaneously, like the last 3 years never happened. Turning the public against masks was a fatal error.
Within the small circle of people I communicate with, things are getting weird. Half of the people don’t keep up with news at all, & they’re living normally & working very hard to shut out everything that doesn’t bring them joy. The other half are expecting imminent annihilation.
@itsavibe
If you find yourself making death threats against a donut shop owner to show support for cops who lost their police donut discount, you may need to re-examine your life and priorities.
I just got off the phone with a woman whose 19 year old daughter, after 3 COVID infections, was diagnosed with early dementia.
Wrap your head around that.
XBB.1.16
India: “Eyes are blood red, gooey, & glued shut. High fever, muscle aches, & non-purulent diarrhea.”
Thailand: “I had a severe sore throat & I was coughing up blood all night, until I was finally hospitalized with XBB.1.16.”
U.S.: “XBB.1.16 causes allergy symptoms.”
My student loan servicer has started calling again, and I think it’s funny as hell. Come and take it. Never again. I paid my entire loan balance on a single $20,000 student loan from 2006, plus $10,000, and I still owe more than my original loan. I’m done.🖕
LongCovid is debilitating & life-changing. We are going to disable millions more.
“Of the nearly 24 million adults in the U.S. who currently have long COVID, more than 80% are having some trouble carrying out daily activities, according to CDC data.”
2020, the NYT: “In a disturbing parallel to HIV, coronavirus can cause a depletion of important immune cells.”
2022: “SARS-CoV-2 causes more T-cell death than HIV.”
2023, the Merck Manual: “Like HIV, SARS-CoV-2 causes lymphocytopenia.”
Corporate overlords: “It’s a cold. 😈”
The “We followed CDC guidance: flying around the world, only taking off our masks to eat/drink/talk/sleep/sneeze into our sleeves. We stayed in 5 different hotels, but they were safe! How did my entire family get Covid this holiday season?” tweets have started.
Israel: “Hospitalizations have nearly doubled & Covid is spreading fast.”
China: “White lungs are back. Many people are testing positive for the 3rd time.”
Canada: “You will wait 13-48 hours for hospital care.”
US: “There’s no testing or data, but cases are declining—promise!”
“…I’m guessing my heart function had probably been declining over that whole week, and by the time I got to the ER, I was septic…They did an echocardiogram. My heart function was really low. I was in heart failure.”
It’s almost 2023, & Americans are like: “I’ve had this flu for 4 weeks, I can’t seem to shake it.”
“I had a sinus infection & a 2-week 104 degree fever.”
“My kid had 9 different viruses, & now they’re in a wheelchair. Hashtag: immunity debt.”
“The stomach bug is going around!”
@joeygllghr
My mother got a Bachelor’s degree in 1976. It cost $6,000. I got a Bachelor’s degree from the same school in 2006. It cost $150,000. Today, it costs $200,000. I’ve paid $28,000 on a $20k student loan from 2006. My balance is $22,000. My generation will NEVER dig out.
I recently spoke to a dear friend. She works in west Texas schools. Teachers are given THREE days to recover from Covid & return to work. If they’re out any longer, they face termination. And we wonder why teachers are quitting.
3 years later, 25M+ people have the same disease in your country alone. They’re attacked, shamed, & humiliated when they discuss it. Billionaires & corporations spend money to convince the public they CAN’T get your disease, & folks resume normal life while getting sick & dying.
It’s so sad when folks are like:
“We haven’t had Covid, we’ve just been unlucky lately! I had a stroke & now have a rare autoimmune disorder. My spouse beat sepsis—pray for the heart transplant! The kids have diabetes, asthma, & seizures. It’s so weird, we can’t catch a break.”
People are taking MASSIVE risks and refusing to take precautions right now. There is no media coverage, but my area of western NY is running out of hospital beds + 24 hr. ED wait times. People are lying to themselves, and it endangers everyone.
Can anyone explain why New York is unmasking while FEMA military medical teams and the National Guard are serving in hospitals & nursing homes around the state? Are we collapsing the healthcare system & making it impossible for people to seek care on purpose? I don’t understand.
I was disabled by LongCovid in early 2020. I was mostly bed-bound for the first 2 years. For the last 6 months, I improved a bit, but activity is totally incapacitating. I have cyclical relapses out of the blue. It’s not going away, & I’ve accepted it’s likely permanent.
Does the public understand the Boomers will likely be the last generation afforded the privilege of reaching their life expectancies? The US is ignoring the largest increase in pediatric mortality in 50+ years & 34% more working Americans 35-44 died than expected last we heard.…
My eldest is about to start high school. All of his friends have Covid. Families don’t even bother preventing it anymore. Heathcare is collapsing in New York State. I found out about my rectal cancer from MyChart. I don’t have a lot of hope. Y’all have fun out there. I’m tired.
For the record: If I die unexpectedly, I want everyone to know it was ABSOLUTELY Covid-related.
Before 2020, I expected to grow old. After 2 Covid infections triggered a cascade of new medical conditions & myriad complications, surviving 10 years will be an accomplishment.
Driving to Best Buy with my teen son, I explained XBB.1.16 is causing conjunctivitis & extreme “allergy symptoms” that become severe illness. The checkout person, eyes streaming, nose running, & coughing, greets us with, “This is the first year I’ve had allergies,” as if on cue.
“All of our leaders, billionaires, & rich people are requiring PCR testing every single time somebody sees them. Every time they have an event they’re…paying companies to do intense screening. Then they take their maskless pictures, pretending it’s all ok, & you all follow.”
People are celebrating the currently low-ish US Covid death rate, claiming it means something. It makes me want to bang my head against a wall. We do this EVERY TIME. People should know by now:
DEATHS ARE A LAGGING INDICATOR. They will rise again. The pandemic is not over.
Guess who has a 102 degree fever and feels terrible but waited all day to tell me because he was afraid I would be mad at him after I repeatedly warned him this was going to happen? If you took my poll “When will be reinfected?” and you chose “Days,” you get a prize!
“The study found the myriad symptoms of long Covid – from brain fog and hallucinations to tremors and tinnitus – spanned 10 of the body’s organ systems, and a third of the symptoms continued to affect patients for at least six months.”
January 2021 was a particularly grueling and miserable month. My initial infection was in February 2020. In the months following, no one knew about LongCovid yet. I thought I was dying. This year I’m learning it doesn’t actually “just go away.”
My body is no longer compatible w/the grueling & unrelenting pace of American life. I ran myself ragged. How are we are going to bounce back as a nation with COVID leaving so many chronically ill? I’m taking it a day at a time, because I can’t imagine living like this forever. 1/
It’s wild how all the Covid studies are like “🚨 This demonstrates SARS-CoV-2 adversely affects every organ system, fertility & life expectancy, & urgent research is needed to determine next steps,” while media & governments smile & beckon, “It’s different now ::cough:: Join us.”
@ahylton26
THIS HAPPENED TO ME!!! I dated a man for about 6 mo. He wanted exclusivity immediately. (Red flag) I am a single mom w/3 kids & going out must be planned. He invited me out. I got dressed up, hired a sitter. I got there & he broke up with me. Would have preferred a text. 😒
Has anyone noticed how people have been trained to minimize & ignore dangerous communicable diseases now? In conversations with loved ones, I’ll say something about skyrocketing Covid & monkeypox & they’ll respond with something like “I think life is good.”
People keep getting sick & quietly drop out of society, one-by-one. Everyone talks about how mysterious it all is, while you desperately try to warn people. People laugh & call you hysterical while your broken body is diagnosed with yet more new medical conditions.
Every family I know with kids in school are like, “Robert has been sick 5 times & he missed 3 weeks of school. Bess quit track, she’s in a wheelchair with LongCovid. She missed 28 days. Pete had a 6-week flu & bleeding eyes, but I worry about learning loss. No, we don’t mask.”
Most people have NO IDEA how many diseases are circulating at RECORD levels in the US. (Including STIs) It’s breathtakingly bad, but health literacy is very low. The US even reported almost 1000 cases of *dengue* last year. Things are changing rapidly, & we aren’t ready.
Japan warned the world in July, but we ignored them. Now media is priming us for death.
“Alarmingly, 38.3% of them had no or only light symptoms immediately before they died, indicating that some of them saw their conditions deteriorate rather suddenly.”
This is what life is like for millions upon millions of Americans. It’s HELL. We aren’t allowed to work together, the system needs us to fight. The most vulnerable are openly sacrificed. The sick are gaslit. Our KIDS are getting sick & dying while folks party. This is who we are.
The way people act like Covid deaths are incredibly rare while over 10,000 Americans quietly die of acute Covid each month is really, really strange. That number doesn’t even take into account all the people who are dying of Covid complications months & years after “recovery.”
Half the public tells you a vaccine that didn’t exist made you ill, & the other half tells you you’re just unlucky & mistaken—it’s a you problem—but THEY aren’t in any danger at all. If they were, it would be on the news! No one changes their behavior, & the virus keeps mutating.
We recently learned 34% more working Americans ages 35-44 died than expected in the last quarter of 2022, & the CDC recently announced they will no longer be reporting Covid-related excess deaths.
Almost 2500 Americans are dying of Covid each week.
It’s surreal to search for Covid articles, only to find pages & pages of exhaustive U.S. media coverage for a SINGLE Covid death in China—the first since May—& NO articles covering the ongoing & never-ending U.S. Covid deaths.
When other countries started calling for everyone who has ever had Covid to get their hearts & organs checked, as post-Covid multi-organ damage is common, the US was like “We’ll pass. Keeping the public in the dark makes things more interesting, & we need time to invest.”
It’s so weird when high-profile individuals drop dead prematurely & everyone’s confused, asking “What could it be?” like we haven’t been disabling folks en masse while reporting a catastrophic, unprecedented, & unthinkable increase in death rates for over 2 years now, & counting.
As the high-profile heart attack deaths continue, remember:
“The spikes in heart attack deaths have tracked with surges of COVID infection—even during Omicron…The data showed the increase was most significant among individuals ages 25-44…”
Many prominent Covid downplayers are suddenly very concerned about Covid, and it’s jarring. In the absence of data, these abrupt pivots should serve as early warning signs.
