Excited to share our new preprint on co-transcriptional splicing! U1 snRNP is recruited to RNA polymerase II through multiple interaction sites, with elongation factor SPT6 binding directly to the U1 snRNP protein. https://t.co/6CItEE2X4d #cryoEM #transcription #splicing

Also pleased to see evidence of the idea of increasing mRNA tension limiting translation as the machineries approach. An intricate mechanism to avoid molecular collisions 💥

Really pleased to see this study of gene expression coupling performed so comprehensively! When we determined structures of ribosome-polymerase complexes we knew were seeing the tip of the iceberg- static moments of two machines that should be seen moving. Congratulations!

First paper of our lab today @Nature by Nussi! We provide a real-time movie on how #transcription and #translation cooperate using multi-color #single-molecule FM: we find long-range #ribosome-#polymerase communication mediated by #RNA looping! @embl https://t.co/ui1h01VaQW

Using cryoEM we understood the structural basis of chiral DNA wrap by bacterial gyrase (and also produced the most complete/highest resolution E coli gyrase model to date). @JohnInnesCentre @DurhamU34989 @MCB_UJ

In @ScienceMagazine - great collaborative work w/ @AlbertW_Lab & @RappsilberLab showing that bacterial RNA polymerase can thread nascent mRNA into the pioneering ribosome from two sides for higher translation initiation efficiency - target for antibiotics? https://t.co/r6jLzkFjOO
