Norwich tories telling voters they don’t need to take ID to polling station 🤔
Delivered in my division (a strong labour area) this afternoon

This is what a group of men (that we have on video) did to my neighbours wall trying to vandalise her vote Labour board. I found them in nearby pub & asked them to apologise & pay for damage. Arrogant & hostile, so police it is.
@CateOliver
Yep, said we've got you on film, just apologise & pay for damage. I'm not interested in criminalising stupidity... Just own up and put it right rather than dig yourselves in deeper. They opted for the "continue to be dickheads" option
@BrandonLewis
The only people there from Norwich were me & a fellow cllr. The public gallery was packed. I was there to support colleagues by live-tweeting the meeting so they could focus on debate. Neither of us uttered a single word. So get your facts straight. Visited any centres yet btw?
@paulwaugh
Hi Paul - just for clarity the resident who received it reported it to Norwich City Council elections office & they notified her they reported to Electoral Commission- I didn’t make the report myself.
Thanks!

All notices were removed by the caretaker immediately when he arrived at work, plus a resident removed one from their floor. It was reported to the police and council as a hate crime yesterday morning & we've been quietly working / supporting in the background since.

@ukhomeoffice
Some years back I supported a young Roma Kosovan lad who fleeing persecution
The home office barrister argued as he “didn’t particularly look Roma” he could go back and pretend not to be.
1 of the 3 adjudicators agreed with that argument!
He’s still here and safe ❤️
@BrandonLewis
And we weren't shipped in, I drove. We fitted in the front of my vehicle..back seats not even needed. That's how many of us where there. So have you local councillors lied to you & you've repeated their lies without
#factchecking
or are you making stuff up by yourself?
@BrandonLewis
I've visited two children's centres in your constituency (Great Yarmouth, you may need reminding as I hear you're not there much) since being elected as a member of children's services committee. How many have you visited?
@BrandonLewis
Also, as I get a vote on what happens post-consultation I was keen to hear the debate and views of district councillors. Shame the Tories took a vow of silence.
I also attended scrutiny committee public on city council to listen to debate & live tweet too.
@enjoysilences
@UKLabour
Other neighbours safely dismantled it this morning, and we have a couple of local Labour members in building trade who have offered to rebuild and repair.... should be ok thank you.
@BrandonLewis
@IDuckmanton
@LabKarenDavis
But it would be better if you went along and spoke with families and staff to hear it first hand yourself. You still haven’t answered. How many children’s centres have you visited in the last 12 months. There is one next door to your constituency office isnt’ there?
Immensely proud, if still in shock, at being selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for North Norfolk.
Thank you to
@cathy_cordiner
for such a sisterly campaign. I’ll do you proud. I look forward to campaigning alongside you all

... worked with other agencies so she could access refuge. They asked her why she had gone there. “Because it says chidren’s Centre above the door, I knew you’d help”. Where would she have gone if her centre was closed? Numerous other similar stories I could tell......
@BrandonLewis
@IDuckmanton
@LabKarenDavis
Yesterday at a centre we heard about a woman who had visited once to weigh her baby. A few months later she arrived unannounced, fleeing serious domestic violence, leaving only with the clothes she & baby were wearing. They kept her safe & worked with other agencies.....

""I think if you were to look hard enough around many public services, who were heavily involved in the pandemic, &working 24 hours, you'd probably find people letting their hair down a bit too freely, because they were working so bloody hard"
WE. DID. NOT.
Really sad moment in Brazengate Sainsbury’s. Woman didn’t have enough money, so went to put back nappies.
Everyone in the queue offered to pay. thanks to the young woman who did

What are the sanction options when a political party has failed to provide accurate information please?
This is such a major failing at a time when many residents are already confused about the new rules and some still unaware they need ID
Staggered to hear Steve Barclay gaslighting patients & entire health and social care workforce
This is
#NHScrisis
made in Downing St by his government
The worst bullshit? “we’ve put more money in” and failing to mention that most of it was *spaffed up the wall* on dodgy PPE
Just been on Radio Norfolk with
@jajo_osborn
to talk about why the western link road is an environmentally and financially reckless project.
Projected costs have already rocketed by £45 million to £198 million - £50 MILLION PER MILE
Feel utterly ashamed to be a Norfolk County Councillor. Cannot believe that anyone, regardless of political party, would send such a callous & nasty email to the parent of a young man with Down’s Syndrome. The gaslighting non-apology of council leader makes it even worse.

Shipping people in.... spoiler alert. We fitted in the front of my vehicle. Back seats not even needed. He is spreading lies. Willfully, now it's been pointed out to him.
@BBradley_Mans
It is barely human to use confidential information shared with you about safeguarding situations in a local school to attempt to score political points and justify your voting record. The school has been identified which risks identifying children. Classy.
There are no good choices at the moment, only least-worst options.
Closing schools is not a neutral act. There are children & young people still without access to online learning (devices & connectivity), finding space to learn at home is impossible for some, availability of...
@thestoddy
@labourlewis
They understand that fully. I am a school governor. We have spoken of little else all year.
Dont demonise teachers. They cant fix all societies problems.
If this govt cared about young peoples mental health they would not have cut CAMHS, closed sure start childrens centres etc
... and in related news, I'm going back to nursing. I rejoined the NMC emergency covid register in March.
This week I got a band 5 job in the covid vaccination team. looking forward to getting started asap.
Remember when Tory MPs said Dianne Abbott apologising for drinking one can of mojito on a tube “didn’t go far enough”
All lining up now to defend a PM & his mates breaking laws they made, lying to parliament & laughing in our faces while we stayed away from dying relatives
It's low paid work. Not low skilled.
My first job as a care assistant.... brilliant women I worked with taught me how to provide dignified care, prevent skin break down, prevent choking, maintain hydration, how to provide end of life & after death care. Skills we should value.

has just boasted that a war veteran had central heating for the first time in 8 years after a warm homes grant.
The bigger question here surely is that how on earth under a tory govt and a tory council was a

left with no heating for 8 years!!
Yes, he actually said this…
“Ken Marsh, chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation, said: “I don’t doubt [there] were honest individuals handing out rape alarms but we have to be alert to the risks of, for example, alarms getting into the wrong hands.”

Ten years ago today I was elected as a Labour Cllr. Thanks to all our amazing volunteer community activists who have turned this “unwinnable” seat in to a Labour stronghold that keeps community activism and social change at its core ❤️🌹

January's unwanted Cllr allowance went to:
£50 - Mind The Gap
£40 - Jenny Lind Arts Project
£30 - shopping (food & emergency supplies) for young homeless couple
EXC - big row in a Tory Whatsapp “Clean Global Brexit” group with over 100 MPs
It leads leads to removal of Nadine Dorries after she defending the PM … and then Steve Baker declaring “enough is enough”

How about we look after everyone who is vulnerable for whatever reason, and stop giving tax cuts to millionaires and massive corporations. We are one of the wealthiest countries in the world. It is a deliberate choice by govt not to end child poverty.
"new guidance had said that if a single case of coronavirus was confirmed, every pupil in the affected person’s year group or “bubble” might have to quarantine for two weeks. However, this passage was removed by the Department for Education shortly after publication on Friday"
NHS forced to prioritise thanks to a decade of under-funding NHS & cuts to preventive services mean there is no resilience or capacity when a pandemic occurs. Austerity. A willful and deliberate political choice

Stop blaming women for violence perpertrated against them. This really isn’t difficult
I want to thank all the social care & home care staff who are working under extreme pressure without access proper protective equipment including basics such as hand sanitiser.
