Online stalking and harassment is when someone ‘monitors, stalks, harasses, threatens, controls or impersonates another person using the internet or other technology’. If this feels familiar, speak to NIDAS. https://t.co/uTPrAdKOAX

Today's perceived drop in domestic abuse crimes reflects fewer crimes recorded, not fewer crimes happening. This follows police being instructed to count fewer DA crimes. That's why this data doesn't reflect the prevalence of DA, nor the number of DA crimes reported to police.

The police recorded 851,062 domestic abuse-related crimes in England and Wales in YE March 2024. This was a decrease compared with the previous year (911,248), which, in part, reflects recent changes in police recording practices.

In today's debate on Violence against Women I outlined the importance of supporting organisations like @LeewayDV in Norwich who help victims of domestic abuse. I addressed issues in our judicial system, our approach to misogyny at its source and raised the international context.

Today marks #EconomicAbuseAwareness Day. Last year, 1 in 7 women in the UK experienced economic abuse from a current or former partner. Abusers use this form of control to restrict freedom and leave victim-survivors trapped in dangerous situations. Sign our pledge to stand in

Today is #WhiteRibbon Day and a reminder of the collective responsibility we have to tackle all forms of violence against women and girls. We must raise awareness of the many forms this takes and of the support available for those experiencing it. #itstartswithmen
