Not only is my internet and phone service faster here in Warsaw (and ~90% cheaper) but electricity is more reliable. My home town in Silicon Valley is going on 48-hrs without power, the second outage this year. Another reason to move to Poland

They make the churches black like it's the plague. Churches are at the center of Polish cities, they "bring the room together" around a central square that's the envy of Americans who have a mall/movie theatre at the heart of their cities. Church-centered communities are healthy.

My grandfather, Konrad Siekierski, was a defender of Warsaw.
My other grandfather, Kazimierz Bendisz, fought with his unit in the south of Poland until they ran out of ammunition and had to surrender.
They both ended up at Oflag VII-A Murnau, a POW camp for officers 70km south

in 1939, after 20 days of siege, Gen. Tadeusz Kutrzeba signed the act of surrender of the city of Warsaw.
During the siege, 2,000 Polish soldiers and more than 10,000 civilians died, thousands were wounded and Germany took over 100,000 POWs.
