Kim: “I’m going to get a High Court judge as a safeguard, it will be the best safeguard in the world” . Judges: “We can’t do that” . Kim: “Fine, I will drop that and change it to psychiatrists and claim that it's Judge Plus" . Psychiatrists: “We can’t do that” . What's next?.
@RCPsych cannot support the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill for England and Wales in its current form and is once again urging MPs to look at our concerns ahead of the pivotal Commons Report stage debate and Third Reading. More here:

Slightly tongue in cheek, but @paulpowlesland now you know how those of us on the right feel when people invoke human rights law for everything and anything!. But on a serious note, something has seriously gone wrong with human rights discourse in this country for that to be said.
I recently got stopped & ticketed by the City of London Police for, & I kid you not, “cycling no handed”. Even though it’s clearly not an offence, the officer said they were ticketing me under the Human Rights Act as I was infringing other people’s Article 2 ‘Right to Life’, in

@Birdyword Generally I think market participants seem poor at distinguishing which pieces of political 'news' they should or shouldn't take seriously. (obviously you are right about WM not understand markets though).

Have been disturbed about this all day . Market reaction is a significant constraint on HMG's ability to act (that's not me complaining; it's a fact of life) . But what if far from being efficient they just work on vibes (and, worse they pick out SW1 noise as vibes).
Extraordinary how the markets react much more sharply to the chancellor's distress and speculation over her position than they did over the actual £5bn u-turn.

The power of the institutional Treasury to take politicians, convince them HMT is right, and use them as shields for the unpopularity of HMT's policies is truly magnificent to see. Poor Rachel Reeves (and I genuinely feel bad for her) is just cannon fodder for HMT.
A tear just rolled down the Chancellor’s cheek at #PMQs as the PM refuses to answer whether or not she’ll stay in her job. Hayfever, or something else?
