Here are some claims that are simultaneously true, but that people maddeningly refuse to simultaneously acknowledge: 1. The knowledge and culture industries are highly unrepresentative of the societies they serve, and remained so throughout the "Great Awokening" (I wrote a book

Allow me to add a little context. The maximum capacity that the Crown Courts can sit is 130,000 days a year. The government is - for reasons of money - forcing courts to close on 19,000 days per year. At a time when the backlog is so bad, the govt wants to remove jury trial.
We’re making a record investment: over 111,000 Crown Court sitting days this financial year – the most in a decade. More court time means faster justice for victims and our ambition is to go higher next year to reduce the backlogs. Read more: https://t.co/z62niKbX4C

Yesterday, during committee stage of the Crime and Policing Bill, I supported some sensible amendments to ensure that when sex offenders change their name via Deed Poll or using a gender recognition certificate, their name remains clear on the Sex Offenders Register. I told the

It's very easy to say people can complain about men's behaviour that makes them uncomfortable - but a victim can very quickly be framed as a perpetrator. https://t.co/4ZLK8Wa03o

1/3 In my latest for @timeshighered, I argue that without the complaints scheme universities will continue to disregard their HEFSA duties with impunity. There is no justice without access to justice. It is time for the government to finish the job.

Thank you @PreetKGillMP for asking when @Sullivan_Review recommendation that the stable category of sex should be the default rather than ephemeral ‘gender’ will be implemented. Is whole of government & @ONS ‘working at a 🐌 pace on it? 😏

This is an unbalanced piece from @timeshighered It doesn't mention that universities typically have predominantly 'gender neutral' toilet provision. And Natacha Kennedy is quoted extensively without any mention of some important history. https://t.co/wDTjJBpDoG

Another important find from the Sandie Peggie judgment. Kemp misread the Swedish study & deduced that transwomen did not pose an increased risk of committing violent crime than women - in fact the comparator was other MEN. This is shocking.

One striking but under-appreciated aspect of global heterogeneity is that only Western Europeans danced in romantic pairs, and this goes right back to the 1400s. Other societies danced more communally, gender segregated, or in age sets.
