If these rumours are true, Wes Streeting ought to be ashamed. Pride in Labour will be monitoring this closely. We cannot stress how important it is that suicide data is not dismissed in any case. Trans people should be engaged at all turns in this matter.
There are widespread rumours (and some evidence) of more to come and inferentially what Streeting is saying is that he will not engage with the trans community or listen to warnings from civil servants or the NHS and he will not engage with suicide data.

Many young trans people and their families are hugely concerned about the puberty blockers ban. Criticisms of the Cass review aside, this policy goes far beyond its recommendations. At #PMQs, I asked the government to meet with those affected to understand its impact.
