Takes me back to South Darfur in peace time, when Kubbum was famous for its honey. I met hunter-gatherers near Bahr al Arab who collected it in the wild. Some of the honey/comb we bought was so unprocessed there were still bits of bee in it. And you could taste the woodsmoke.
Just today I found out that the Ashenda Festival is called ‘Marya’ in parts of #Tigray; especially in Shire and Adigrat. My friend just got back from a wonderful holiday there and brought me a jar of pure organic honey from the Adwa mountains along with some unforgettable Tomoca
