I've completed 25 years as a teacher today. And my conclusion is that it's the best job in the world!

I had the great pleasure of sharing the writing of this ATM publication with Derek and Barbara Ball back in 2008. What a very sad loss.

At the end of the day, school has to be about so much more than achievement and grades.

The assault on Rafah is another utterly despicable war crime. As bombs rain down on a trapped and terrified population, we implore our government to find an ounce of humanity and end its complicity in this senseless massacre. Wake up. This is not war. This is genocide.

I am disgusted by reports that the Home Office will begin rounding up and detaining asylum seekers, in preparation for deportation to Rwanda. This is a terrifying, repulsive election stunt from a government devoid of humanity. We will resist, together.

Maths should not be about rules, and right or wrong answers, and 'mindless memorisation' but about creativity and ideas, says @joboaler

The privatisation of water has been a total and utter disaster. Stop bailing out greedy private companies and bring our water into public ownership instead.

What age/year group might this be appropriate for (if any!)? How would you expect them to solve it? (Disclaimer: I made the image in ppt so the edges might not quite align, but you get the idea!)

It blows my mind that @David_Cameron talks of the risk of casualties when Israel has killed over 30,000 & our Government continue to support them. Some lives are more important than others, clearly.

Explaining the inability of schools to support SEN children like they used to is also a pretty difficult/upsetting conversation for all parties concerned. It’s not our politicians who have to have the conversations that we need to have because of their decisions.

Millions of us have been calling for a ceasefire to stop the loss of life and prevent a wider conflict. Political leaders have chosen to ignore us — and their failure to facilitate de-escalation has endangered everyone. The world is in a truly perilous state. It’s time to

When Y11 daughter says I can’t remember trig ratios and you work through constructing and reading from these triangles and she goes 🤯😍 “why don’t they teach me this at school?”. So how do they teach them? @geoffwake1 @MichaelOllerton @AccomplishEdu @MathsNot @ATMMathematics 🤷🏽♀️

@helenjwc @CuisenaireCo @AlfColes @MichaelOllerton @ecarda1 @adil_3 I'm an English teacher by training so it's very easy to avoid "wrong" in that. But I also currently teach maths in secondary and I think the thing I do most often when helping students tackle questions is start with "what do you know, and how can you use it?"

@helenjwc @PardoeMary @Yorkshire_Steve I recall an anecdote from David Fielker. Q: how do you teach your pupils to solve problems A: I give them problems to solve
