Happy 90th birthday, Governor Dukakis! 🥳
We’re all grateful for your decades of public service and everything you’ve done for Massachusetts. As a mentor to many, your never-ending wisdom and kindness continue to inspire the the next generation of leaders.
We're directing pharmacies in Massachusetts to continue dispensing all reproductive health medications, including mifepristone.
Medication abortion has been safely and effectively used by millions for 20+ years. This is basic health care.
Honored to welcome
@VP
to Boston ahead of National Apprenticeship Week!
Glad to have partners in the
@WhiteHouse
who see the important role that ‘earn while you learn’ opportunities play in Massachusetts and across the country.
Medication abortion is safe, effective, and available in Massachusetts, including mifepristone.
Some Trump-appointed, right-wing extremist judge in Texas isn’t going to change that.
Good cities and towns don't happen by accident. It takes intentional, thoughtful leadership and a whole lot of working together.
From Pittsfield to Provincetown and every municipality in between—you'll always have a partner in me.
This year, Pride comes at a time when the LGBTQ+ people across the country are facing a tidal wave of anti-gay, anti-trans legislation and attacks.
Here in Massachusetts, we will always protect your right to live and love free from fear. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤
I come from a Navy family and there’s nothing like

Congrats, Army. We’ll get ‘em next year, Navy!
The people arriving in Massachusetts are here lawfully and want to work. They want to support their families and contribute to our state. Our businesses want to employ them.
We teamed up with federal, state, and nonprofit partners to put shelter residents on a new path to…
Massachusetts is a state of firsts. The first public school, the first public library, the first public park. Today, we celebrate another one of our historic firsts. 20 years ago, we became the first state to take up marriage equality.
I’m so proud to call this state home.
Mom. Mayor. Lieutenant Governor. But it all started with one of my first jobs – lifeguard!

Just like we did after Dobbs, MA is leading the way forward. We will NEVER let right-wing extremist ideologues get in between patients and safe, effective health care.
Thank you to
@UMass
, health care providers, reproductive care advocates and legislators for your partnership.
Mifepristone is safe and effective. It’s been the gold standard for over two decades.
We’re keeping it available in Massachusetts – no matter what some extremist, Trump-appointed judge in Texas says.
Here’s how we’re going to do it.
I toured The Pryde a few weeks ago and saw the beginnings of the vibrant community there. LGBTQ+ seniors are more likely to age alone, weighed down by a lifetime of discrimination. The Pryde is a safe, and welcoming place they can call home.
Attacks on The Pryde are fueled by…
We’ve fought hard in the appropriations process to secure funding for The Pryde—an affordable housing project for LGBTQ+ seniors in Hyde Park.
But today, Republicans stripped that funding from the bill & continued their dangerous trend of targeting the LGBTQ+ community.
Thanks to
@RepRichardNeal
for hosting our meeting today with the Massachusetts Delegation on Capitol Hill and to
@WhipKClark
for allowing us to borrow her conference room! Look forward to our continued federal and state partnership to move Massachusetts forward!

While I was the Mayor of Salem, we turned an old courthouse into a mixed-use development. We studied how to use empty land near the high school to create housing for teachers and school staff. The city is working now to transform a parking lot into transit-oriented housing.
It’s January in Massachusetts—we all know that the first big snowstorm of the year is right around the corner. Today,
@MassGovernor
and I stopped at
@MassEMA
and
@DPWFramingham
to talk about how we’ll respond before the flakes start to fall.
In the face of constant threats and attacks, Massachusetts clinicians bravely continue to provide gender-affirming care.
@MassGovernor
and I stand with them.
Our state must be a safe-haven where trans and gender expansive folks can access life-saving care they need and deserve.
Today,
@MassGovernor
and I issued a proclamation celebrating
#BlackHistoryMonth
. It’s on all of us to learn from the Black advocates and trailblazers of our past and work together with leaders of today to dismantle systemic racism once and for all.
Our administration is laser-focused on addressing the housing crisis, and I know
@SenWarren
shares that commitment. We’re going to need everyone at the table to solve one of the biggest challenges facing MA, and we’re lucky to have such strong partnerships at the federal level!
This is a BIG moment for our team and for Massachusetts! The budget delivers on many of our team’s hallmark proposals for kids, families, communities, and our planet.
And this is just the beginning! I'm excited to get to work turning these ideas and investments in to action.
In Massachusetts, we meet the challenges of the moment by embracing the opportunities that come with them. That's what this budget is all about — making a real, positive difference through where we spend our dollars.
Today, I signed our administration’s first budget ✍🏻
Back in 1773, Massachusetts was home to innovators, trailblazers, and troublemakers. Some things never change.

We’re doing something really special here. Other states have green banks, but we’re baking environmental justice right into the mission of the Massachusetts Community Climate Bank.
This is how we lead with our values and create greener, healthier communities 💚🌎🏡
We're launching the Massachusetts Community Climate Bank – a financial engine for cutting emissions and improving health, equity, and economic security.
It’s the first climate bank focused on affordable housing in the US, and we’re depositing $50M. More:

Massachusetts is for all of us, all of the time.
During Pride, and every month of the year, we want LGBTQ+ folks and their families to know that Massachusetts is a safe, welcoming and inclusive place to visit, live, work, and learn.
Housing is a critical point of collaboration between state and local leaders. As Mayor, I saw how people hurt because there aren't enough places to live.
Today, we announced I'll be leading a working group exploring what our new, dedicated housing secretariat will look like.
I come at the housing crisis as a former mayor. In Salem, attractions, restaurants, and shops are our hallmark, but it’s gotten harder for employees that drive our economy to live in the city.
I see the Affordable Homes Act as the key to unlocking MA as a competitive state 🔑🏠…
Welcome to the team, Senator
@AnneGobi
! I’m excited to work with you to support equity, agricultural and small business, and conservation efforts in each of Massachusetts' 181 rural towns!
We created Massachusetts’ first-ever Director of Rural Affairs position to help us build an economy that booms from Williamstown to Wellfleet.
Today,
@MassLtGov
and I are pleased to announce that Senator
@AnneGobi
is joining our administration in this brand-new role.
Indigenous Peoples’ Day is an opportunity to celebrate and honor Native people, their diverse and vibrant cultures, and their innumerable contributions to our state.
It’s also a day to reckon with our country’s history of brutality and broken promises, and recommit to justice,…
As a proud
@SalemState
grad, I’m a big advocate for public higher ed. Tuition equity means more students can get their degree at one of our amazing community colleges, state universities, or
@UMass
schools — regardless of immigration status.
That’s something to celebrate!
The last time Massachusetts’ health and physical education framework was updated was in 1999.
Think about what we’ve learned – all the progress we’ve made – in 24 years.
The updates we’re proposing are inclusive, carefully researched, medically accurate, and long overdue.
Students today are facing a lot. The aftermath of a pandemic. A mental health crisis. The constant pressures of social media.
That's why we're proposing updates to the framework that guides instruction of health and phys ed from pre-K to 12th grade.
Tomorrow marks the 100th day of this administration.
I’m even more optimistic about Massachusetts’ strong, bright, resilient future than I was on Day 1.
If you know Ed Augustus, you know his motto: "How do we get to yes?"
With Ed at the helm of our new housing secretariat, we'll work together with cities and towns to say "Yes!" to more homes and lower costs.
With a new cabinet-level office dedicated to creating homes and lowering costs, we can treat the housing crisis with the urgency this moment demands – and our residents deserve.
I’m naming former Worcester City Manager Ed Augustus as Secretary of Housing & Livable Communities.
Today, I chaired my first meeting of the Governor’s Council! Looking forward to spending many more Wednesday afternoons with my partners in government.
Thanks for writing in Violet!

Happy Holidays, Massachusetts! ❄️
However you celebrate, I hope this season is filled with good food, good fun, and lots of time with the people you love!
We knew this was coming. That doesn't make it any less disappointing or troubling.
But it doesn’t change our commitment to students of color, LGBTQ+ students, first gen students, and all underrepresented in higher ed.
You will always be welcome and valued in Massachusetts.
In Massachusetts – home to the first public school and first university – our commitment to equity, inclusion, and representation in education remains unshakable.
The old Foxborough State Hospital closed its doors in 1975 — it’s unused, state-owned land that can help us meet our housing goals.
Now, it’s being converted into 100+ affordable units for people 55+! These are the innovative solutions we need to tackle our housing challenges.
One year ago today, the Supreme Court stole the constitutional right to a safe, legal abortion away from tens of millions of Americans.
We fought back then – and we’re not backing down now.
Reproductive freedom will always be guaranteed in Massachusetts.
I vividly remember my visit to this region of Israel—the bus shelters that doubled as bomb shelters, the high pitched alarm system to warn of incoming artillery.
I condemn this Hamas attack on innocent Israeli civilians and pray for a peaceful outcome.
I condemn the unconscionable attacks on innocent Israeli civilians by Hamas. I’m holding the victims of this violence and their families in my heart, and praying for the safety of the people of Israel.

Marijuana is legal in Massachusetts, but there are still people living with convictions that hold them back.
That doesn’t sit right with me. That's not justice.
I'm using my executive power to pardon all misdemeanor convictions for marijuana possession in Massachusetts.

Great news: Massachusetts has been picked to host a brand new health innovation hub for a nationwide network of researchers and entrepreneurs.
We’ve got the talent, expertise, and vision to make progress in medicine, and now we’ve got more federal funding to make it happen.
As the life science and health care capital of the world, there’s no better place for
@ARPA_H

More federal dollars mean more opportunity for our state — and more lifesaving breakthroughs for patients.
As the proud mom of a nurse at Salem Hospital, I’m thankful for everything Massachusetts’ nurses do to save lives and keep our communities healthy. To my daughter Ailish, and to all the nurses across our state, Happy National Nurses Week!
The state of the Commonwealth is strong 💪🏻
I'm so proud to be part of this amazing team and thankful for the opportunity to serve the people of Massachusetts. 2024 is going to be an awesome year. Bring it on!

On any given night, roughly 500 veterans don’t have a place to call home. That’s unacceptable.

Each June (and every month of the year!) we celebrate the hard-won progress of the LGBTQ+ community and rally around the right to live and love without fear. I’m always proud to march alongside you!

All veterans who served this country with pride and honor deserve access to the benefits they earned, regardless of who they love.
As the daughter of a Navy veteran, today was especially meaningful. With the Veterans Equality Review Board, we’re taking a major step toward…
As a lawyer, I worked on a challenge to Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. I met so many veterans who received an “other than honorable discharge,” for loving who they love.
12 years after the repeal of DADT, I held those vets in my heart as I swore in our Veterans Equality Review Board.
As the proud daughter of a Navy veteran, I’m grateful to the veterans, legislators, and advocates who pushed for the creation of a new Veterans’ Secretary, and I know Rep. Jon Santiago is up to the job. We’re so glad he’s continuing his service as a part of our team!
Rep. Jon Santiago has lived a life of service to this country – as a legislator, an emergency room doctor, and overseas with the U.S. Army Reserve.
He's uniquely qualified to be our first Veterans’ Secretary. Our former service members and their families will be in good hands.
Spending time with our veterans, military members, and their families is always a powerful reminder of what it takes to serve. Bravery. Sacrifice. Love for our country and the people who call it home. It was an honor to declare May Military Appreciation Month.
