Federal contractors—including custodial & food service workers—are being screwed by this Republican shutdown. And unlike federal employees, they have no assurance they'll receive backpay when Republicans reopen the govt. Our bill would ensure these workers are not left behind.

As a former hotel worker & unpaid Congressional intern, I know what it is to live paycheck-to-paycheck. This Republican-manufactured shutdown is harming everyone, including our federal contractors who aren't guaranteed backpay when the govt reopens. Our bill would change that.

One week into this shameful Republican government shutdown, I'm thinking of: The grandmother already skipping meals to pay for her prescriptions. The young mom who won't be able to afford her child's asthma inhaler. And the federal contractor who may not see a paycheck at all.

Yeah, no. The law is clear: federal workers must receive back pay. AND I have a bill to ensure federal contractors get it as well.
