Our feelings are there for a reason. They alert us when something is wrong. They keep us away from danger, and they spur us on to do things we might not have managed otherwise. We need our emotions, negative and positive. (illustration by @BexGoneWest) 1/

Exciting news! I'm writing a textbook for OTs in perinatal health and matrescence! It will be contemporary and progressive, and I'm looking for OTs who might like to contribute to this. If you're keen, please visit my website to learn more: https://t.co/lf2ooRbINU

OTs help you to help yourself. It's not their job to 'train' you. They teach you how you can own your own body, how to listen to it, how to learn from it, how to work it so that it can work.
I'm not sure why #OccupationalTherapy is trending today but it reminds me that it was wonderful occupational therapists working with physiotherapists and nurses at St Pancras Rehabilitation Hospital who taught me to stand up and walk, all done with care, kindness and great skill

One of our year 5 children has recently lost her mum. We were writing persuasive letters in English this week and she wrote this gorgeous letter. Any kind of message or response would be amazing. Please share. @DUALIPA @MrBoothY6 @Mat_at_Brookes @Talk4Writing @JamieThomasTFW

The ADHD urge to get ALL the things done but not get ANY of it done because your brain literally feels paralyzed because you try to do it all at once and then youโre exhausted and frustrated and need a nap.

A soothing voice. A relaxing touch. Laying with someone in your comfort zone. Feeling fingers in your hair. These all regulate the nervous system. Schedule time to just be with your safe person. Your nervous system will thank you.

The Heimlich isn't the only maneuver that can save someone when their life is getting choked out of them, sometimes a hug can do the same thing.

Believing the myth that "change has to start at the top of an organisation" is an easy excuse to avoid action - a reason to do nothing when you can do something. Change doesn't have to start at the top. Change can come from anywhere. It's about people connecting up with others

@wesstreeting .@wesstreeting - What about physios, paramedics, radiographers, OTs, speech therapists, podiatrists, psychologists and al, the other clinical professions? No transformation, no reduction in waiting lists and no improvements to care without them.
