7/7 So, no, physiotherapists aren’t “pretending to be doctors”. They’re part of the modern multidisciplinary solution to NHS pressure, patient need, and service innovation. That’s something we should all be proud of

6/7 Healthcare is changing. The old silos between professions are giving way to integrated, collaborative models where expertise is recognised, not restricted. Physiotherapists have earned their place as autonomous, evidence-driven clinicians at every level of care.

5/7 These roles are delivering real results: ✅ Faster access to assessment ✅ Reduced waiting times ✅ Improved multidisciplinary teamwork ✅ Better patient outcomes Advanced practice roles are one reason MSK, frailty, and respiratory pathways run more efficiently across the NHS

4/7 Advanced practitioners are not working “beyond” regulation, the HCPC regulates all physiotherapists, & employers must provide governance, supervision and additional indemnity if needed. The CSP sets professional expectations ensuring safety, evidence-based care & role clarity

3/7 Physio’s in advanced roles complete postgraduate training, clinical supervision, and have governance oversight. They don’t “replace” doctors, they collaborate with them. The NHS Advanced Practice Framework, HEE guidance, & the CSP all define this work within robust governance

2/7 Advanced practice isn’t outside the physiotherapy scope, it is physiotherapy, evolved. Scope of practice is dynamic, defined by evidence, professional judgement, and regulation. It grows as practice develops and as new clinical needs emerge, that’s how healthcare progresses

There’s some confusion online about advanced practice & physio scope of practice, so here’s a 🧵 for clarity. Physios working in advanced roles aren’t pretending to be doctors they’re highly trained clinicians working at the top of their profession, improving care & outcomes 1/7

I worked in government so know how frustrating it is when the courts adopt unexpected interpretations of the law in ways which Parliament never intended. Lawyers are good at making clever cases. But that’s is no reason to abandon our basic rights.

#ECHR protects all of us. Do you really want a country where: murder , imprisonment without trial, torture, slavery and rigged elections are OK? or where you are not entitled to; free speech, marry who you to want, education or to join a union? 💈

Today is the 89th anniversary of The Battle of Cable Street when the people of the East End of London halted the march of Oswald Mosley’s Blackshirts through Stepney. Never has there been a more important time to remember this heroic event. https://t.co/TVDqWFafAO

Until there is routine screening, if you have a family history of prostate issues, are over 50 or Black you may be at higher risk so ask your GP for a PSA test.

Hateful acts of violence have no place in our society. My thoughts and prayers are with the Jewish community and those affected

I'm quite frankly sickened by some of the responses I've seen to the attack on the synagogue. Antisemitism existed long before the Israeli occupation and it remains a serious problem. The lack of empathy for the victims of a senseless attack on a place of worship is appalling.

As people of all faiths, ethnicities and backgrounds, today we stand with Britain’s Jews. An attack on one community is an attack on all of us. United we stand Divided we fall

The bravery & response from the congregation & the police looks like it saved many lives. The response time was 7 minutes! Those heroes should be on our front pages tomorrow. Not the image of the killer. He wanted notoriety & we should deny him it https://t.co/ziGZtGqHoV
