Yes - a really helpful session. @Masic_uk are such a great charity.
Thank you so much to @masic_uk for hosting a support session for families in the Families Failed by OUH Maternity Services group last night. And thank you to @LeighDay_Law’s @White_Suz & @SanjaCN for coming along to offer advice. Such a supportive session. #MaternitySafety.

We really want to withhold judgement on the maternity review until it's reported, but this does not inspire confidence.
Sussex families said “the chair (Amos) told them that she was not aware of the history or expectations of the families, and that she did not have the power to decide who would lead it” - just wow!. @ValerieAmos @DOckendenLtd @wesstreeting #carcrash.

Since the Montgomery ruling in 2015, it's a requirement that clinicians provide patients with the necessary information to make a decision about their care. But so often it doesn't happen.
Settlement. "The case against the hospital board was that June was not given sufficient information about how the birthing centre was run to have made an informed decision to deliver her baby in that type of setting.".

This is quite extraordinary. How many women have had this happen to them? How do @OUHospitals justify this?.
I wasn’t even allowed to leave a windowless room to have a poo. I was told to poo in a cardboard bowl balanced on a chair. There wasn’t even a commode available. But, oh yes, a roof garden- that would’ve changed things….#OxfordUniversityHospitals #MaternitySafety.

OUH, like many other trusts, needs to focus on training staff, listening to women and owning up to mistakes. Creating a roof garden isn't going to help bereaved and harmed parents.
Once we have worked to verify all new member requests since @itvmeridian coverage of the campaign yesterday we will have over 600 harmed families. Yesterday’s response from @OUHospitals was upsetting & gaslighting for families. @wesstreeting @EdwardJDavey.

This is true. Safe care ought to be the least you can expect.
“The vast majority of care is safe.”.That line has become a shield. If your baby is in the minority that dies, it’s not reassuring — it’s devastating. Safe care should be the minimum, not the average. #MaternitySafety.@NHS @CommonsHealth @carolinenokes @FeryalClark @shaunlintern

Yes, exactly. It's very damning to say that maternity services are failing at the basics.
⚠️ Theme 6."Services still lack the consistent ability to identify and respond to clinical risks.".Surely this is the most basic job of maternity care. to assess + respond to risk?. #MaternitySafety @BirthTrauma.
