Today was “refill” day. I had prove my worthiness via pee-test, in a bathroom whose faucet had been physically removed, with a jammed door lock. I couldn’t wash my hands, and a nurse had to inspect my toilet afterwards. I have cancer + a well-documented titanium spinal cage.

My mother was abused in school like this. Her teacher purposely gave out spelling words adults would struggle with, just to spank when they failed. She never got above a HS degree.
My dad had the exact opposite experience, and has 5 degrees, including PhD.

*DEA has forced manufacturing reductions of Hydrocodone/Vicodin by 73% over 7 straight years, and oxycodone/Percocet by 63%, w/no sign of stopping.

I could use a Christmas miracle. I’m asking for prayers/vibes/light for 100% remission & healing of my chronic myeloid leukemia. 3 years of constant chemo, stress, pain, hospitals, blood draws, fatigue, & illness is just too much. My test comes back in 2 weeks & I’m scared. 🙏😢

Why does Dr. Kolodny and the filmmakers of "Do No Harm" feel that those with addiction deserve compassionate, ongoing treatment, including with medications that happen to be opoids (bupenorphine), but law-abiding, responsible chronic pain patients do not deserve the same?

This can still happen. My ex-husband authorized my torture in a hospital while holding me down, b/c I refused a particular therapy it was later determined I didn’t need. It was horrifying. And he watched me scream the whole time! I tried to file a police report—no law was broken.

Let me repeat: I AM A SICK, DISABLED ADULT WITH NO CRIMINAL RECORD who is required by state and federal laws, insurance agencies, and doctor CYA rules to prove every 2-3 months, not only am I not taking anything but my prescribed meds, but that I AM ACTUALLY TAKING my meds!

2 things need to happen for chronic pain patients to thrive:
1) DEA needs to reschedule basic meds like Vicodin & Percocet BACK to level 3.
2) States need to abolish arbitrary Morphine Milligram Equivalency laws, so Drs. can prescribe proper amounts sans fear.

That means as a female person who also has a hard time bending forward b/c of said back cage and pain, I often make a mess. As someone with a weakened immune system, I can’t wash my hands—only hand sanitizer is provided—and no one else can wash, either!

I spoke with my pharmacist today: I cannot get my script fully filled at one time, making traveling difficult. Because of the DEA, I also cannot fill the rest of my script out of state, or have it transferred to another pharmacy.

I had a former bff like this, who, after hearing I had cancer, abandoned me entirely for 3 years. Once I started to improve, she came around. I was pretty upset and asked why she left, to which she replied, “I had stuff to do, too!”
That bridge burned.

It is completely abnormal and inappropriate to drug test disabled and elderly people at all or so often. Just one more humiliating hoop to jump through, as if we’re bad for being in pain. This wasn’t standard practice 10 years ago, pre-opioid war.

Went to pain management today, and learned a fun tidbit about OH’s PDMP: 1) I’m not legally allowed to see my own ORS report (WTH??). 2) It literally has a disclaimer across the top that says it DOESN’T CLAIM TO BE ACCURATE.

I have also been told to “drink more wine” for pain management by a couple of doctors and NPs. Apparently alcohol addiction/abuse is perfectly acceptable, maybe because it doesn’t fall back on the doctor, liability-wise?

Yesterday I was at my pharmacy, picking up meds. Due to state/federal laws, this disabled cancer patient had to come back in 12 hours to get pain meds that were available, but couldn’t be filled 12 hours “early”. Now I’m in a pain flare, it’s storming, and I have pink eye.

My daughter’s friend just had emergency appendectomy. Sent home crying with only Tylenol, and a fire warning to her mom about opioid addiction. Poor girl was in so much pain, then had a sudden emergency that sent her back in. I’m so sick of people being tortured like me & my kid!

If I try, reporting systems will flag me as an addict. If it gets lost or stolen I get to go into dangerous withdrawal for a month, until I see my doctor again.
I am a cancer patient with mobility issues and chronic back/leg pain from a damaged sciatic nerve!

The solution is to petition for the re-classification of opioids, BACK to pre-2013 Schedule 3. The DEA would instantly lose authority to prosecute, & regular docs would be free to prescribe again. That’s the secret golden door.

My oldest went through an “opioid-free” wisdom tooth surgery. She ended up spitting up blood with busted stitches, passed out, and needed emergency surgery after crying all damn day from the pain! I called the Dr. 3x and got her Tramadol, which did 0 for her.

It is still a problem because good reporting is based on hard research that takes days-weeks of digging and understanding technical language of law and medicine and science that the average person doesn’t. Real reporting is breaking those barriers down to teach and inform.
