This is about compassion and personal choice. We support medical aid in dying so people facing terminal illness or unbearable pain can decide for themselves how their lives end — not have that decision dictated by someone else’s religious beliefs.
IL Gov. JB Pritzker has just signed a Medical Aid in Dying bill, which will alleviate suffering for some at the end of their lives. It's the right thing to do. So, naturally, it was opposed by conservative Christian groups. https://t.co/m6YNA3oHoJ

White nationalist Lauren Witzke claims that God had to destroy the world with Noah's Flood because fallen angels and the Nephilim "brought pharmaceuticals to the world": "It's a form of witchcraft."

A soccer scholarship brought a young woman to Truett McConnell University, a Baptist school in Georgia. What the school's vice president did to her nearly destroyed her life. Now, years later, he's finally been indicted for lying to police. https://t.co/nirG5y4oA0

I'll be going live in a bit to talk about the past week in church/state separation! We'll be talking about a custody case centering around the harm of religion, a Utah high school's troubling video, and so much more... https://t.co/75QN8uEjNt

A surprising but welcome update: Rachel Laser of @americansunited has been named by Sen. Chuck Schumer to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom: https://t.co/iR484lMMgd That group is currently led by Christian Nationalist Vicky Hartzler:

Must-read piece by @hemantmehta. I went to a church just like this when I was a kid. This is child abuse.
A child suffered panic attacks after hearing fire-and-brimstone sermons and being told her dad might go to Hell. A judge stepped in to stop it. Now the Maine Supreme Court will have to decide what's more important: religion or a child's mental health? https://t.co/1uliXkuvYx

How about this: We won’t make you fund teaching that god isn’t real, and you don’t get to make us fund indoctrinating kids into your religion. Public money is for public schools that serve every student.
Tennessee’s Wilberforce Academy says a “purely secular education is necessarily an inferior one.” Now its leaders are demanding public money to run their religious charter school. This isn't about education. It’s about power. https://t.co/0WBgzqeHAt

“Christ is Lord” is a church message — not a campaign slogan for a governor’s mansion. The only thing being “erased” here is the separation of state and church. Politicians don’t get to use public office as a pulpit.
Rep. Nancy Mace, who's running for governor of South Carolina, claims "The Left is trying to erase Christ from every part of American life." She asks for campaign cash to help her make the case that "CHRIST IS LORD" "from the governor's mansion."

If this is the kind of “mental-health advice” schools give now, imagine what happens when chaplains replace counselors. This is why public schools need actual mental-health education, not sermons.
"If you ever go to bed depressed or sad, guess what? You probably haven’t worked hard enough." That's a real quote. From a real assistant principal. Shown to an entire high school. With religious references (naturally). https://t.co/uFDqHD64Iz
